Agree. You can't really have an MVP of an utterly terrible OOC. I'll give an LVP. That would go to Murray. For all of the classic hoyatalk Kenner hype (one and done, NBA player, yada-yada-yada), this kid has shown me very little. His effort is lackluster, his conditioning looks poor, his shot is meh, and his D which was hyped has proven to be underwhelming. I hope he can turn a corner because I think they pretty much staked their entire turn around efforts on him being the marquee guy and he just isn't it, at least not yet. It would be a great story as a DMVer for him to find his way and lead this team but if your leader dogs it on defense and doesn't hustle, that isn't a recipe for success.Agree with this and it highlights one of the bigger issues---team doesn't seem to have a leader. Couldn't agree more with the above takes on Brandon Murray. He was supposed to be the leader and 1-and-done NBA draft pick when he was acquired. Kid got a big head and his body language is awful, appears to like blaming others for his problems. I can't remember a Hoya with worse body language than Murray. In the latest On3 2023 NBA Draft big board, Murray is not listed as a projected first round pick. www.on3.com/news/2023-nba-draft-big-board-1-0-who-comes-after-victor-wembanyama-scoot-henderson/

Lots of people said they thought he was better than Aminu, and I am just not seeing it. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he's not wowing me either. What he may have in athleticism he's lacking in skill, motor, and basketball IQ at the moment.

He needs thousands of shots, a lot of proverbial buckets of cold water poured on his head to bring him back to reality, and a good heart-to-heart about what he needs to do to become a pro. He can do it, but it will be hard work. He is not an elite athlete, and it is a narrow path for those guys.

Also- I take issue with the shots at Spears. He is not a me-me-me player. A lot of his mistakes come from forcing passes. Yes, he can dominate the ball, but a big part of that issue is that he is by far the best ball handler on the team. Spears seems to be playing hard and trying to win. He deserves the respect and support of Hoya fans.

Meh. Donald Carey was anointed team leader last year, got the C, and we still didn’t win a BE game. I’m being nasty because I always thought that was a joke, but if Sr year Brilly walks through the door, we’re not winning many more games unless he can teach the other 12 guys to guard the 3, value each possession, and hit open 3s. Players can’t make up for lack of leadership from the staff.

It all depends on how you define MVP.
If it is the person most responsible for the success of a program, then clearly it is Ewing.
Every result has his name written all over it:
1. Attendance 2. Fan engagement 3. Academics 4. Wins (hah!!) 5. Losses
