Morally bankrupt "Republicans" - Happy Fourth. Disgusting that a major political "party" is actually a cult of personality still in the thrall of a racist, fascist demagogue. Congrats "Republicans"! Donald J. Trump, former president of the United States, was arraigned in federal court in June on 37 counts related to alleged mishandling of classified documents. Mr. Trump had already been found civilly liable for sexual assault and defamation in one case, and has been charged in another for falsifying records to conceal payments made to hide a scandal during his presidential campaign in 2016. He may yet be charged with an attempt to tamper with the results of the presidential election in Georgia in 2020 and with helping to instigate the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Now he is also accused of trying to hold on to documents that included national secrets, for reasons that are unclear, even after federal officials requested their return. None of this seems to have hurt his popularity among Republican voters: A poll conducted in the aftermath of his arraignment found that more than half of Republican or Republican-leaning voters still supported his nomination for president in 2024. The result is a political “Groundhog Day.” The former president’s disdain for democratic norms, which America’s editors warned against before the 2020 election, continues unabated. Far from being sobered by the danger of the political violence he helped instigate on Jan. 6, 2021, Mr. Trump has instead doubled down on his demagoguery about “conspiracies” and “witch hunts” against him and his supporters to deflect from his own electoral failures and legal troubles. His irresponsible and self-serving rhetoric distorts the political process across all three branches of government. How can we have a free and fair election when one candidate’s principal campaign pitch is that any result in which he loses is evidence of nefarious forces arrayed against him? www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2023/06/29/healthy-democracy-leaders-245551?pnespid=6bk.Fj5fMv4Vh6nFpGqoGsyTtBOvCMpqIbGh2fp2rUNm.Wc8jvO3DyTrUAvcNj_bzaiK_JYK

RFK Jr may be a crackpot but he must have some traction if the NYT is doing this piece. Imagine if they were this interested in the President’s finances and ability to get rich in public service.

The right’s thesis on Biden is perplexing: he is a doddering old fool and has been for quite some time, but he’s also a criminal mastermind capable of hiding his impropriety in the face on nonstop scrutiny and investigation by the insurrectionists in the House. If part of your thesis is that House Republicans are absolute incompetent dimwits and that’s why they haven’t been able to find anything, I can at least agree with you on the first part of that.

Any curiosity at all about his massive accumulation of wealth while in public service or is that just coin of the realm in the DC cesspool?

Out of curiosity, what is his massive accumulation of wealth? That you know of, of course. I wouldn’t expect you to know about any billions stored in Chinese banks, as reported by a source like NewsMax or FauxNews.

Any curiosity at all about his massive accumulation of wealth while in public service or is that just coin of the realm in the DC cesspool? I don’t trust any of these people to do the right thing. Almost all of them suck. However, I’d be interested in seeing actual verifiable proof that he has done something corrupt, but none has been found as of yet. If it is uncovered, he should be skewered for it. Until then, innuendo and bare accusations won’t suffice. I’m not saying this is you, but I find it incredibly peculiar that no amount of evidence will convince some people that Trump is uniquely corrupt, immoral, and guilty as sin, but those same people will absolutely believe that Biden is the most corrupt president in history with zero solid proof of wrongdoing. We live in the dumbest possible timeline of American history, thanks is large part to the unparalleled idiocy of the MAGA sect.

"Facts?! Facts?! We don't need no stinkin' facts." - MAGA GOP cultists
"We have lots of theories, we just don't have any facts." - Rudy
"Republicans" are fact free morons. They enjoy their unique ability to toss out false equivalencies such as Biden is somehow as corrupt as Mango. At least they keep us apprised of the latest Fox Prop talking points.

Yeah, why doesn't the NYT investigate Biden they moan. Well, the NYT doesn't have subpoena power but Gym Jordan and Jim "Goober" Comer do and what have they come up with? Bupkis.

I guess "Republicans" are quite pleased that the leader of your cult posted an obscenity directed at the duly-elected President of the United States on the 4th of July?
IOW, the perfect sociopath to lead your cult. Congrats!

This is a well-researched piece (if a bit dated now at 2 years old) that demonstrates Biden is not a rent-/wealth-seeker from the financial decisions he's made over his lifetime. If he were, he would be worth at least 8, if not 9 digits (which has pretty much become the entry standard for high-net worth in this country). Yes that's probably East/West Coast criteria I'm voicing which I standby nonetheless.... The true test will be his post-presidency (where most ex-POTUS make their true fortune on books/speeches/gigs etc.). Given his age, he'll probably have a shorter runway there.....
