This game and the next one are impossible games to lose. These teams make 2021 Dartmouth look like UCLA from the 60s.

6 predictions for the game.
1. Because we have a lot of new players and its early in the season, we run lots of basic sets and a lot of high pick and roll. Primo is our high scorer as a result but takes twice as many shots as Q to do it.
2. Our 3pt d still sucks but we have 6+ blocks. We remember how good Q is on the boards.
3. Brandon Murray puts out a Freeman like performance going 8-10 and scoring at all three levels.
4. E has more fouls than points, but looks good doing it and gets us all excited.
5. Bristol is the 8th man and shows off a nice midrange jumper.
6. Attendance isnt great. People aren't working downtown as much and those who got out of the routine of going to games during covid dont come back right away.

SoCal -- I'll take all of those. And I appreciate that you resisted the sudden appearance of Dante to the delirious delight of the 3300 in attendance.
I will add that Denver get some minutes, takes a few misses to get the butterflies out, and plays high energy defense. Doesn't score a lot of points, but shows us enough to let us know we have a pure shooter out there who will show us throughout the season what all the buzz was about.

I return for another season. With so many new players, it’s important to have games like this to hopefully grow while winning. A big win won’t prove much, but it would be really, really refreshing after how things went last season. Personally, I think building a team around transfers is a lot harder than some on here think. One of Ewing’s challenges throughout his tenure has been building a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. I hope the team can develop a positive chemistry over these first few weeks.
I hope we get off to a strong start. Go Hoyas!

In tonight’s 23 point loss to Charlotte their only double figure scorer was PG Sam Sessoms, late of Penn St., with 24.

If GU doesn’t win by at least 20, then something is amiss.

"Patrick Ewing Revives Hoya Basketball Fortunes".....Take 6. Let's hope this one works. Would like to see some enthusiasm in what is likely to be a very small crowd (1st game on a Tuesday--election night and late start on top of that?). Would like to see a deep rotation tonight to give minutes to all the players. An offense characterized by ball movement and finding the open man, rather than "my turn" mentality, and an aggressive defense. As always I will root for kids that came back during the off=season of turnover--so hoping that Jordan Riley and Ryan Mutombo are more than afterthoughts on this team. Thought provoking read: www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/archives/editorial_110722.htm

Do we know anything else on Dante? Just that he isn’t available…but do we know anything else?

Line opened at 16.5 in our favor and has shifted to 18.5 on some books. Clearly America loves the Hoyas.

Do we know anything else on Dante? Just that he isn’t available…but do we know anything else? Publicly no. But its not exactly been a well kept secret that Dante was unhappy that A. Primo won the starting job and B. Anglin was going to earn some minutes. The writing was on the wall that, barring injury, Dante would be at best the backup PG and likely find himself on the bottom half of the rotation for guard minutes.

My question remains the same - if he really is moving in a different direction, can Malcolm reclaim that scholarship come second semester?

Coppin State pushes the tempo and shoots a lot of 3s (poorly). Probably won't shoot 14% again from deep tonight...even off a back to back. Trust the staff has a defensive gameplan to contest a barrage of outside shots...

Trust the staff has a defensive gameplan to contest a barrage of outside shots... I really don't care about the final score (assuming we win) but I plan on counting how many open 3's they take. Anything more than 10 tells me that we really haven't turned a corner. Less than 5 and maybe we've learned to play defense and might be a different-better-team this year.

If they are going to shoot 14% from 3 I would encourage them to take as many as they want.

My hopes for tonight in no particular order are...
1- off ball player movement on offense
2 - connected team defense
3- unselfish play in transition
4- Coach E doesn't yell rebound or get back at all but instead yanks out the players who aren't doing it
