17-14, 8-12
I also want to restate that anything less than an at large berth is unacceptable and SHOULD finally result in wholesale changes. As you can tell from my prediction, I think we will come up short.

21-9 (12-8)
I'm always optimistic so I only have us losing to Texas Tech in the OOC and going 12-8 in conference. @ Nova, UCONN, StJs, X, Quette, Creighton, Provy. Home lose to Creighton.

No idea. And really no one else does. How can you predict what a team with really only one returning starter (not counting Wahab), a bunch of transfers who never played together, and a coach who has yet to prove he can create a cohesive program will do? Here's what I'm guessing they won't do. They won't play defense or even attempt to learn how to play zone defenses. They won't box out or control the offensive boards. They won't run effective fast breaks. And they won't average fewer than 14 turnovers per game or have a game where they have less than 10. That said if they learn how to do even one of those things they might actually win 6-7 conference games this year.

6-14 bad, 8-12 good, 11-9 great.

17-14, 8-12 I also want to restate that anything less than an at large berth is unacceptable and SHOULD finally result in wholesale changes. As you can tell from my prediction, I think we will come up short. This is almost exactly where I think we end up and on the outside looking in. When I went through our Big East schedule, I don't really see any gimmes. I also think the teams with success have had some time together and this team doesn't have that going for them. What would be devastating is if all the new parts that came in this year are on the move in the offseason. That has been our biggest failing. We can't wait yet another year to figure it all out. I would love to eat my words however.

I've been saying for a while that we have significant athleticism, we've improved at every position, we are deeper, longer, and have a mix of experience and options. So much is up to the coaches now and the buy-in they create in the players. (We also have new faces and dynamics on the coaching staff, which I trust will translate into clarity and focus on defense and PT for role players, etc.) I have also said that we are going to surprise a lot of people and score a few upsets among a few BE bigs. Believing all that, I can't very well go small and safe in my predictions, can I? No. I can't. So here goes:
9-2 OOC games 11-9 BE games
Will reach the 3rd round of the BET and round of 32 in the NCAA
I'm excited about this team and the season ahead. Let's go! HOYA SAXA!

Just curious who you have us losing to in the OOC? I have 10-1 with a split between Cuse/TTU. Leaning toward beating Cuse handily and falling short @tech. I think 11-9 in the BE is the floor. Should sweep or shoot for 7/1 DePaul, Butler, Marquette and St John’s (think the Johnnies are the most overrated preseason team and think they will be awful given their offensive woes). Other than @creighton, no other BE game should be written in as an automatic loss. Lot of solid teams in the BE but only Creighton offers up an objectively better top 3 than the Hoyas with Heath, Q, and Murray. Our depth will ultimately control our destination and I’m probably higher on our top 7 than even most Hoya fans. We’ve finally got athleticism, length, and are old.

I like your optimism and think you make good points. I am admittedly a bit gun shy of getting too optimistic because of last year and because the coaching has significant question marks still. I thought asking to go 11-0 or 10-1 in OOC games was a big ask -- I see that as our time to really see who we are and make big decisions about our lineup, and in that process we are bound to drop a couple. I am most wary of T.Tech and S.Carolina.
In the BE, Creighton, Nova, UConn, Providence and Seton Hall worry me most. Xavier is close behind. I agree about St. John's and the rest. Put all that together and I think we come out 11-9, maybe 12-8. I see us finishing stronger than we start, and given that the BE is a very tough conference, we get an at-large bid to the Dance.
Somehow I typed this entire post with all of my fingers crossed. Go Hoyas!

8-3 OOC (Whens the last time we didnt lose a game we shouldnt?) 8-12 BE
1 BET win
17-16 Overall
I'd love to be as optimistic as many on here - but 0-20 is far too fresh in my mind. Yes, the talent has been upgraded. But until we see proof of a staff that knows how to teach a more cohesive defensive strategy its hard to envision more than this. Would love to be wrong.

I predict that no one really has a clue at this point. On this message board or in the basketball program? Probably both but the posters aren't being paid millions to have a clue about running and maintaining a successful program.
