It would be stunning if NC State lost this kid to a non Adidas schools. If that’s the case, as a Nike/Jordan Brand school, why are we putting significant resources into recruiting him? That's above my pay grade.

Must be one hell of a collection of bridesmaid dresses hanging in the recruiting office at the TAC…

Zero chance he’s a one and done. And if our staff is telling him he is, then that’s a problem into itself. You guys are all nuts!! I don’t think out staff is telling a kid ranked around 100 that he has the potential to go straight to the show.

Where are the stats that suggest he’s a one-&-done? The original post has him at under 50% FT and 31% 3-pt. If I am reading that stat sheet right and he wasn’t hurt, he’s a long-term project with good size to defend the perimeter.

If I am reading that stat sheet right and he wasn’t hurt, he’s a long-term project with good size to defend the perimeter. Stats from this summer were even worse, according to this article: "The jump shot is streaky. He shoots it with good balance, but his release is inconsistent, getting a different spin on different shots. Parker can shoot a two-dribble pull-up with confidence, especially going left. Parker lacks blow-by speed off the bounce. At this point, playing as a wing in the half-court, things can become inefficient. Parker shot 24.5 percent from three through 17 games on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer...Parker shot 52.4 percent from two during Adidas 3SSB championship week." www.on3.com/news/dennis-parker-jr-four-star-sf-full-breakdown-nc-state-georgetown/From all accounts, he's a raw run/jump athlete that needs a ton of work on his skills to be considered anywhere near the NBA. Why would our coaches be telling him he's a 1-and-done if he comes to Georgetown?

These statements are so misconstrued. We have no idea of the context. For instance- what if the player asks, "What would it take for me to be a one and done?" Are the coaches precluded from answering? We really have no idea- but let's argue about it on and on...

Not reading that and thinking it holds much water.

I don’t think out staff is telling a kid ranked around 100 that he has the potential to go straight to the show. Coach Nickleberry has been on him since he was a Top 30 player which wasn’t all that long ago. Top 30 players have 1nD dreams whether warranted or not. In his mind he’s likely still a 1nD player. He had a bad summer which is the cause of the drop but I doubt that has done much for his expectations as can be seen by his quotes. Instead of telling it to him straight they played into those expectations. Selling dreams certainly happens but the circumstances here are a bit different. He will figure it out sooner or later no matter where he ends up. If he doesn’t choose us he may end up here eventually which may be best case scenario.

March 2022 On3 updated its class of 2023 basketball recruit rankings Monday, and four-star small forward Dennis Parker, Jr. checked in at No. 28. www.on3.com/teams/nc-state-wolfpack/news/dennis-parker-nc-state-basketball-recruiting/

Nice find SSHoya - my bad, obviously. I didn't think he was ever ranked nearly that high, but On3 seems to be much higher on him than most services (now has him in the low-50s).

Best of luck to the young man. Clearly we came late to the party and his relationship with Keatts over 3+ years won out. If Keatts gets canned then I hope we get another shot if we want to. Really just need a C and I’d look to the transfer market if you want to bring in a wing next year.

Oh well, time for the Hoyas to move onto the next recruit. Hopefully Nickleberry has a few more high schoolers that he feels good about for 2023. I don't see them having more than 3 incoming freshman next year, at the most!!! If there are more open roster spots, and from recent history I would think there very well could be a few more, I would expect those to be filled with transfers.

Interesting to note here that Keatts may be on the hottest seat of them all this season. If NC State does poorly this season, the consensus is that he’ll get fired. Wouldn’t shock me if Parker is decommited come the spring time next year and maybe back in play. Whether G’Town would still be in play, who knows. Just an interesting thought.
Of course, Patrick could be gone too, but after last season, I’d say it’s highly unlikely G’Town would do that. Whereas NC State is WAY more likely to pull the trigger on firing a coach.
