Amani Hansberry is the workhorse for Team Durant. He is pushing a double-double every time he steps on the floor. The unique part about Hansberry’s game is his vision and length. He can push the break and deliver passes on the move. He is also a good positional shot-blocker. While five-star teammate KJ Evans – rightfully so – gets a lot of the accolades and love, without Hansberry, this Team Durant team would not be near as effective. He has taken official visits to Penn State, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College. Watch the production this one puts out in college. www.on3.com/news/shaws-sights-and-sounds-peach-jams-x-factors-who-help-teams-win-games/

On Thursday afternoon, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins was in attendance at the Peach Jam event in North Augusta, Sc. to watch 3-star PF Amani Hansberry. Hansberry didn’t disappoint as the 2023 prospect dropped 18 points in Team Durant’s win over MOKAN Elite. Derek Piper of 247 Sports reported that Huggins and his staff watched Hansberry. Hansberry (6-foot-8, 225 pounds) was offered by West Virginia on Tuesday. Hansberry averaged 15.8 points and 8.6 rebounds last summer during the AAU circuit. The recent WVU prospect has received offers from Auburn, Oregon and Xavier over the past couple of days. Hansberry has previously received offers from Boston College, DePaul, Howard, Illinois, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, NC State, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Penn State, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Player Evaluation: Amani Hansberry plays like a traditional power forward but shows a modern touch to his game. Hansberry uses his 6-foot-8, 225-pound build to his advantage, bullying his way into the paint for shots and rebounds. The rising senior possesses a smooth touch to his game and can shoot consistently from mid-range. wvsportsnow.com/3-star-pf-amani-hansberry-performs-well-in-front-of-bob-huggins-at-peach-jam/Amani Hansberry, Team Durant In a game that came down to game-winning free throws, Amani Hansberry continued his solid play with yet another double-double in their win over Mokan Elite. Hansberry is a tenacious rebounder and he battled on the offensive glass creating second opportunities for his team along with effective post moves. He may not be the flashiest player but he’s consistent. On the recruitment side of things, Penn State, Maryland, and Illinois among others were court-side for the talented forward. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Peach-Jam-Sadiq-White-Drake-Powell-Jaland-Lowe-190401579/

I know it's hard to control the negativity, but maybe not posting about HS kids we are NOT recruiting would be one place to start. It's a GU board after all, not a HS forum. Well Seaweed, While not on Hoyaboya's bandwagon, I for one wish the Hoyas would aggressively pursue Hansberry. The Hoyas visited him and offered him when he attended SJC in DC, a WCAC school. He transferred and has continued to trend upwards. It would be great if we put on some heat and effort to get in the game for him. I like where the team is headed and think Amani would be a valuable addition.

You must remember, as you have evidence by several of the players on the current roster, often the Hoyas hunt in silence/secret! Although we now have several assistant/associate coaches that recruit, all of their efforts are not out in the open.. .how can they be? Still whether we get him or not, I root for getting him...he is a DMV kid. But there is a big world out there offering opportunity. He reminds me of a player we had before who played for the Knicks.I'm officially old now and can't remember his name. He had the best hands on the game, but got too overweight...and other issue...Ahh,it just came to me, Mike Sweeney!!

Miami is already going to be dangerous with the addition of Favor Aire. If they bring in Hansberry, they're going to be fun to watch over the next two years. But if we pull in Amani and Isaiah, WE will be fun to watch, and competitive!

AMANI HANSBERRY • Height: 6-8 • Weight: 225 • Hometown (School): Washington D.C. (Mount St. Joseph) • Composite ranking: No. 140 • 247Sports ranking: No. 128 • Top offers: Boston College, Illinois, Miami, Penn State, Virginia Tech, LSU, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, West Virginia • Prister’s analysis: An advancing prospect with an evolving, well-rounded game. Can play with back to the basket, take a post feed, a space-swallowing drop step and score. Spin moves to the bucket are effective. Also can take that same post feed and hit a turnaround jumper. Carves space and creates shot with an easy grace. Has three-point shooting range, albeit with an unorthodox kick of the right leg. A big who can handle the ball in the open court and lead a fast break. Shows really good hands in the post. Sees the kick-out pass. A resourceful maximizer of his abilities. Has a presence on the basketball court. Had a very productive summer. Plays for the same coach that instructed former Irish point guard Eric Atkins. Surprising that area schools Maryland and Georgetown have yet to offer. 247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Notre-Dame-Class-of-2023-Mens-Basketball-List-190686608/

Amani Hansberry, Team Durant – Hansberry was sensational at the Peach Jam, putting up consistently huge numbers, and leading Team Durant to the semifinals in the process. He has some of the best hands in high school basketball, excellent footwork, and a very high acumen for the game. While he doesn’t have elite size and explosiveness, he’s versatile and able to impact winning in a variety of ways. He’s a scoring threat with both hands around the rim, poised in the post, crafty with his use of fakes, able to create space with his broad shoulders, and a very good passer from multiple spots on the floor. Simultaneously, he’s a reliable free-throw shooter and continuing to expand his face-up game, without sacrificing his efficiency. He’s a high-volume rebounder, able to win 50-50 balls because of his length and hands, and in all the right spots on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he’s sometimes best as a five, but doesn’t project as much of a rim protecting presence at the next level. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/college-basketball-recruiting-eybl-sean-stewart-ron-holland-mackenzie-mgbako-190864361/#190864361_5
