No longer with Dematha, recently transferred to Carmel Christian in North Carolina. Red flag Potentially but Dematha’s roster has imploded. No one seems to like the new coach. Not sure why he chose Carmel in particular.

On the first day of direct contact with the class of 2024, Indiana offered shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf. While he is currently listed at around 6-foot-5, Mustaf is an interesting case. His father, 6-foot-10 Jerrod Mustaf, played for Maryland before being selected with the 17th pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. The Terps could be tough to beat in this recruitment, as his mother also went to Maryland. For spring and summer basketball, Mustaf runs with New World on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, where he plays up with the 17u team. That’s a program IU assistant coach Kenya Hunter has ties to and IU has made several offers including most recently his teammates Khani Rooths and Jamie Kaiser. So far Mustaf has offers from Harvard, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Xavier and Rutgers. www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-hoosiers-offer-2024-guard-jaeden-mustaf/

“Recently, I’ve heard a lot from Georgetown, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers,” Mustaf said. “I’ve visited Virginia Tech, Rutgers, and Maryland. Those three schools will probably get official visits.” Virginia Tech: “I learned a lot about the atmosphere there. I went down for a football game, which was the craziest atmosphere I’ve experienced. Everyone supports everyone there; I wasn’t expecting that. My old teammate Rodney Rice went there, and I think I would fit in well with my knowing Coach (Mike) Jones and the coaches trusting me.” Maryland: “They just got a new coaching staff. Just it being hometown, that is big because that’s where I’m from. A lot of my family and my friends are nearby.” Rutgers: “Their facilities are crazy. I didn’t expect all that when I went in there. Their weight room had some equipment I’d never seen before. Their facilities are great. I also like their coaches; they talk to us a lot.” “LSU has reached out recently,” Mustaf said. “My teammate from last year, Tyrell Ward, goes there.” www.on3.com/news/4-star-jaeden-mustaf-talks-visits-it-was-the-craziest-atmosphere-ive-experienced/

Makes the fourth school look real good, no?

New World is led by their four-star trio of 2023 Jamie Kaiser and 2024’s Khani Rooths and Jaeden Mustaf. Kaiser is a 6-foot-5 wing with over 20 offers and will be narrowing his list soon. Rooths is the No. 11 player in the 2023 class. The hyper-athletic forward has ten or so high major offers. Mustaf is a top-50 ranked combo guard. He is strong and explosive and lives in the paint. 2023 Four-star Dennis Parker, Jr. has been his usual steady self, on both ends of the floor, all week. 2024 four-star Rob Dockery is an intriguing secondary handler with great floor vision. Upwards of 75 college coaches were watching. Buzz Williams (Texas A&M), Kevin Keatts (NC State), Patrick Ewing (Georgetown), and Mike Woodson (Indiana) were among them. Assistants from Wake Forest, Maryland, South Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Richmond, South Florida, SMU, Cincinnati, Marshall, Virginia, and Mississippi State were in line to watch the action. www.on3.com/news/electric-adidas-3ssb-championship-game-new-world-vs-team-loaded-va-goes-into-triple-overtime/

MOST VALUABLE: Jaeden Mustaf WHAT HE DID: The event’s MVP as named by the tournament itself, Mustaf led his New World AAU team to the tournament championship and turned heads in the process. The No. 72 player in the class of 2024, Mustaf impacted games in a long list of ways and showcased his physicality and ability to score in the paint despite playing up an age group. Mustaf gets to the free-throw line with incredible regularity. In fact, he shot more than 20 free throws in the title game. Mustaf also rebounds well, as the multidimensional guard is a master when it comes to using his bulky frame to get position. RECRUITMENT: Mustaf has seen new schools enter the mix because of his performance in Rock Hill. Texas A&M offered on Sunday and that won’t be the last major school to get involved. The junior-to-be holds offers from places such as Maryland, Georgia, NC State, Xavier and Rutgers. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/adidas-3ssb-championship-the-cassidy-awards

One of the top prospects in the class of 2024 could have a visit to the Virginia men's basketball program on the horizon. Jaeden Mustaf, the No. 40-ranked player in the country in the class of 2024, plans to begin taking official visits next month and listed Virginia along with Maryland, Miami, and Indiana as the schools he wants to start visiting soon, per a report from 247Sports' Travis Branham on Saturday. A four-star from Carmel Christian School in Matthews, North Carolina, Mustaf is ranked the No. 11 shooting guard in the country and the No. 3 player in North Carolina. The 6'5" guard is reportedly prioritizing Maryland, Miami, Virginia and Indiana, but those visits have not been set in stone yet. He has also been in contact with NC State, Virginia Tech and Georgetown. Mustaf took a visit to Rutgers last October and went to NC State in late June. www.si.com/college/virginia/basketball/top-50-guard-jaeden-mustaf-eyeing-potential-visit-to-uva-basketball

Though Indiana basketball is one of 15 other schools to offer the 6-foot-5 guard thus far, it seems as though the two standouts of the 16 offers are Maryland and Indiana at this point. Mustaf spoke about his abilities and what he thinks stands out about his game, along with his interest in Indiana and other recruiting snip-bits, in a conversation with TheHoosier.com: “I think in my strength, I feel like I am able to get wherever I need to get on the floor and I’m able to finish through contact. I think I have improved my catch and shoot shooting as well. Just continuing to improve shooting, not trying to always get to the rim and making the game even easier for myself.” hoosierstateofmind.com/2022/08/10/indiana-basketball-recruiting-2024-4-star-guard-interest-hoosiers/

Jaeden Mustaf is On3’s No. 43 ranked player in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-5 guard was the MVP of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit 17u championships. Playing up in age for the New World program, Mustaf lead his team in scoring (12.7) while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and averaging 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. Indiana and Florida State loved what they say and showed up on the first weekend coaches could be out for the Fall live recruiting period. www.on3.com/news/jaeden-mustaf-becoming-high-major-priority-recruit-indiana-florida-state/
