Good to hear other perspectives. Agree with your observations on Mozone -- he definitely impressed yesterday. You didn't see Heath -- I'd be shocked if he's not a starter. I'm not as bullish as you/others on Ezewiro's ability to contribute right away, but of course I hope he proves me wrong. Based on your depth chart, not sure if you're indicating Bass won't get many/any? minutes. I think Bass will earn time and provide value. I think alot depends on Akok. If Akok is too injured to play much then there's an opening for Bass. If Ezeriro gets in foul trouble and he did pick up alot of fouls in Kenner, then minutes for Bass. I think even with no Akok the best units will be Eweiro at the 4 followed by a small ball unit with (Spears, Heath, Mozone, Murray, Q). So in that scenario Bass would be the 3rd option. The small ball unit with (Spears, Heath, Mozone, Murray, Q) opens the floor for Q. 1 in 4 out. So I could see that being used alot since even though small there is still alot of height length. And that doesn't even consider if Dante can come back to freshman form plus perfect his Curtis Staples 3 pt shot in which case he'll eat into Bass' minutes as that shifts Heath/Mozone/Murray over a position.

I have a very good feeling about this upcoming season! Talent usually leads to optimism. There appears to be an increase in that!

I like the small ball approach. You can't teach speed. I just watched the Bill Russell interview - kick out to the guards and reward the big man running the floor. I just realized that he was an excellent pick and roll player. How is Mike the GOAT and Russell has 11 rings (two as a player coach).

Because most of the people choosing a goat never had the pleasure of watching Bill play. And as for those who question competition back then, Bill had to get past Wilt every year. He will always be my GOAT.

Jordan Riley: 7 pts, 3-15 2 pt, 1-2 FT, 0-5 3pt, 3 reb (2 off), 2 asst, 1 st, 2 bl, 1 TO -Riley and Mutombo both played a lot more today. Riley was kind of playing point guard for much of the game. -His jump shot just is not working this summer. He took a lot of pull up 15-18 footers today, and did not hit any of them. You don’t see many 3-20 shooting lines, even in a summer league. www.casualhoya.com/2022/8/1/23287390/kenner-league-notes-july-30-31-georgetown-hoyas-mcdonough

Although I do think that Aminu had a couple lines like that last season.

Not bad lines for either Q or Ezewiro. Anyone know if they mostly marched up against each other?

Thursday
Q: Seemed to struggle and was bothered by Bradley's strength and size. They were matched up maybe 65% of the time. Eventually figured out to pump fake and draw fouls/get Bradley in the air in the 2nd half and was a little more successful. But space eaters have always given Q trouble so it's good we have one in Bradley to mix it up. I saw Q look to pass/pass at least twice maybe. Which is probably more than he had all season. So there is improvement there. Had a 3pt shot attempt that was off.
Bradley Ezwweiro: This guy can do everything. Defense, rebound, finish, block shots, shoot, handle the ball. He's the type of guy who you hate to play against because he will beat you up physically. He seems to have a fairly high basketball IQ, especially for a big man. Outside shot wasn't working for him but his shots are still close. Foul trouble may be his only issue but with Q/Mutombo and then possibly Akok/Bass/Mozone/Murray/Bristol, I think it will actually workout fine even if he picks up fouls.
Bristol: Low dribble, pretty good handles even when going 100 mph. Good 3pt stroke. Was tearing it up but then got a little too excited and out of control. Think it's just getting used to game speed but he looks promising. Seems hungry.
Jay Heath: I thought he was okay. Lot of energy, lot of hustle and seems to be everywhere. He has a bit of a natural slouch in posture but I'm still not sure he is 6-3, seems more 6-1. Compactly and muscularly built but doesn't seem to have superior length. Athletic and fast. I think he would be undersized for a 2 guard. Right now I have Primo slightly ahead as the point guard. Heath is a spark plug so I could see him scoring alot off the second unit as well. Seems more a combo guard than a point to me.
Friday
Higher Level over Tombs
Tombs was down 30-13 in the first half. Just didn't have the size to match up with Higher Level's front line (6-11 270 lbs Noel Brown, Another guy who was around 6-9 and Bass at 6-7). Murray may have been Tombs tallest/strongest guy.
2nd Half Primo really turned it on. 10 spin moves and another 10 blow bys for layups or assists. Murray was alright but was worn down on the defensive end guarding Higher Level's bigs.
Bass probably had about 7 dunks. Was defending multiple positions, blocking shots, rebounding and as I said before his passing IQ is pretty high for a freshman forward.
Game ended up being close with a furious comeback but was just too hard to defend that size in the post.
