Indiana: "I have been talking to Kenya Hunter and Brian Walsh. They have been recruiting me heavily. I talk to them daily. I talk to Gabe Cupps daily too. They really have been getting after me and I feel if they like me that much, then I might as well go visit. It is Big Ten basketball and you cannot beat that. The history there is crazy. If they are prioritizing me, I have to prioritize them because I feel like that will be a good spot for me if they feel so too." Maryland: "I have been a huge Terps fan since I was a kid. I have been going to games since I was in Kindergarten. My neighbors are big fans of the program. The school is 45 minutes from my house so I would love to be a hometown guy up there. Kevin Willard is a solid dude who is trying to bring back the basketball history. He has a good staff with him. One of my good buddies Jahnathan Lamothe just committed there so they are definitely up there in the mix." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Jamie-Kaiser-Virginia-West-Virginia-Maryland-Wisconsin-Indiana-Basketball-Recruiting-188450689/

where do we stand with him? The spring stockriser out of Burke (Va.) trimmed his list of options down to nine finalists that include Boston College, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Miami, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

I have to question the judgment of any recruit that seriously considers BC if they're wanting to play CBB.

Jamie Kaiser, Bishop Ireton One of the top performances of the day came from 6-6, 200 pound shooting guard Jamie Kaiser of Burke (Va.) Bishop Ireton. Kaiser has been one of the big stock risers of the spring and backed that up with an efficient scoring performance where he also battled on the glass and made really good decisions as a passer. Kaiser shot an efficient 11-16 from the field while making shots from three, mid range and around the rim. He can play both on and off the ball. Although scoring was the highlight of his performance, he also showed a lot of toughness battling on the glass. 247sports.com/college/virginia/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Jamie-Kaiser-Jahnathan-Lamothe-Deshawn-Harris-Smith-Darren-Harris--188913056/

There’s been no hotter/faster-rising prospect than Kaiser over the past two months, and he showed why with a dominating display at DeMatha over the weekend. Kaiser averaged 25.8 points per game - good for second in the event - including outings of 33 and 31 in the two games I saw on Saturday against Flint Hill and St. James, respectively. Overall, the Cardinals went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend. “I really want to play right away,” he said. “I’m just one of those guys that likes to compete and I just can’t sit there, so I want to go to a place where I’m going to be able to play right away and contribute to a winner.” www.dmvelite.com/news_article/show/1230386#.YrSBTgoPvmc.twitter

Kaiser talks recruitment Maryland: “They are close to home, and I love Maryland. I always used to watch their games when I was a kid.” Harvard: “I never thought I would have an opportunity to go to Harvard when I was younger. That is a big offer, so I wanted to go up there and see what they were about.” Wisconsin: “They were the first big school to offer me, and I appreciate their faith in me. They were the first offer, so I went out there first.” Virginia: “Coach Tony Bennett is a legendary coach. He has been a coach of the year and a national champion. He tells and showed me how I really fit their system. I respect that and wanted to go over there to see more.” Visits moving forward “When we are out in California for Adidas, I am going to go to UCLA because it’s not that far,” Kaiser said. “I also have an official visit planned to Indiana. I wouldn’t mind seeing Stanford too.” UCLA: “The style of play stands out. They have Johnny Juzang; I remember the year they went to the Final Four; they had three 6-foot-6 wings. That is me and my type of playing style. They create their own shots and play tough defense. Coach Mick Cronin coached tough teams at Cincinnati, and I feel like I’m that type of kid.” Indiana: “They love me; I talk to them every day. You look over and see Coach Woody (Mike Woodson) sitting there watching. They are recruiting Jaeden (Mustaf) and Khani (Rooths) too. We all fit their type of playing style. It’s a pro-style system, and they recruit really well. They have been here every game, and I appreciate that.” Stanford: “Coach (Jerod) Haase has developed players there as the head coach. I want to go and see what it’s all about. It’s kind of like Harvard with the academics; you get the best of both worlds.” “I heard that UNC would come to a couple of my games. I’ve not talked to them directly yet, but my high school coach has talked with them. I went to Burke (VA) Lake Braddock High, and Hubert Davis went there. I’m friends with his nephew. That would be a dream offer, but I am very happy with what I have now and very appreciative of what I have.” www.on3.com/news/4-star-jamie-kaiser-i-went-to-the-same-school-as-hubert-davis-unc-would-be-a-dream-offer/

Kevin Willard has added his second commitment in the class of 2023. This afternoon, summer stock riser Jamie Kaiser announced he will stay close to home and commit to Maryland. A 6-foot-6 shooting guard out of Burke (Va.) Kaiser chose the Terrapins over his other two finalists of Indiana and Virginia. Kaiser is optimistic about the direction Willard will take the program and the chance of making a big impact early in his college career. With his commitment, Kaiser joins top 150 senior Johnathan Lamothe to give the Terps the No. 11 ranked recruiting class in the country. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Jamie-Kaiser-commits-to-Maryland-Basketball-Recruiting-191087403/

Just a bunch of layups instead of above the rim dunks.

He’s really good all around. Just started focusing on basketball full time recently. He had a monster summer. Can really shoot, defend, and rebound. Can do a lot of things off the ball that a lot of young players struggle to do. The things he does well translates to college in a winning manner.
I don’t really think we had a chance here. Read that the family grew up as Maryland fans. A bit of a bummer but it happens. We do need to do something locally because their staff has gone hard after locals, making it a bigger priority than the previous staff.
