The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team's inside presence continues to thin, as Josh Mballa has entered the transfer portal.
Mballa, a 6-foot-7 forward, has been one of the Bulls’ most productive inside players in the past three seasons. He was the 2020-21 Mid-American Conference defensive player of the year, and averaged 13 points and 8.6 rebounds in 28 games.

He could be a massive get … rebounds and scores a little with 2 years of availability

Did he get in in time to get the auto waiver?
Agree we should get on the phone with him fast.

Not yet, but then again no one has been linked to him. If we are on him, this sounds like one of the Georgetown recruitments we might win --- the silent approach, and then out of nowhere you get a commitment. He would fill a MASSIVE hole, and was high school teammates with Akok Akok. I think he's the perfect player for the Hoyas front court. A little undersized on paper, but plays much bigger than his listed height and weight. Excellent rebounder, and a mobile defender.

It remains to be seen if they will get traction here though.

I was finally able to find that Mballa is 'testing the waters in the draft', so that explains why there is little news on the NCAA transfer buzz about him. Seems like he's one of the guys who's waiting till after he gets his draft feedback before exploring his transfer options.
Probably good news for G'Town. As teams fill up their rosters, good old G'Town being slow might actually mean they have 2 open spots still in the front court by the time he really delves deep into his transfer options.

Former Buffalo forward and Ole Miss transfer target Josh Mballa just recently visited the Ole Miss campus this past weekend. Mballa previously visited Maryland, with Illinois very much in the hunt to win Mballa's services. As reported by Jared Redding 5/9/2022.
