You guys are funny as he'll! PE isn't a good coach? The players don't feel that way. Don't get me wrong he has his flaws but he is a good coach. The endless bitchfest in here is unbearable. Gloom and Doom! But I bet when the Hoyas start winning next year all you haters will High fiving each other, screaming HOYA SAXA! yall bleed Blue & gray as long as they're winning. #FUGAZI you guys love to hate the team like Randy Quaid in Major League 2. It's hilarious!

It's hilarious! I am not saying this to troll: What is your definitely of "good coach"? If your definition is "the players like him," then you might be right (though I really have no idea, but it's certainly possible). But, I see no success-based definition of "good coach" that Ewing falls under, unless you want to resort to a single BET win among five Big East seasons at or below .500, highlighted by the most recent 0-19 regular season and Big East loss. As I've said before, I think it's fine to be honest and say you love Ewing, want him to be our coach, etc. But I just don't see it on a performance basis. All that said, if Ewing manages to land both Nickelberry (he did) and Pegues (not a done deal), those are both really good hires considering the circumstances. I am not confident it'll matter in the end, but given where Ewing is now I think that those hires are/would be good ones. To me, the perfect way to cap off the assistant situation would be to move Orr to being a special assistant, and to hire an assistant coach who is a defensive guru (for that matter, a defensive guru wouldn't have to have the assistant title but they usually do). But, it's getting late in the hiring process and there aren't that many of those guys out there.

You could have had the best coach in the world and he probably pulls around 4 conference wins out of last years team tops. Disagree.

Wojo won fewer than 8 Big East games once at Marquette in 7 seasons. Ewing has won 8 or more Big East games once in 5 seasons. Wojo Big East winning percentage: .465. Ewing: .292. And Ewing’s isn’t getting any better in year 6 unless Nickelberry imports some LSU guys.

I thought you would understand that it’s impossible to determine either way. IMO, another coach would have us around .500 and not have the embarrassing OOC losses to Dartmouth et al.

Pretty highly rated recruiting class last year, nothing, and I mean nothing, to show for it. The fault lies with the coaching staff, and not just the sacrificial lambs who were fired.

This thread is dedicated to Mike Pegues. You guys are way off the subject. Please talk about the potential hiring of coach Pegues.

All I'm saying is the sentiment on Ewing wasn't what it is now until this past season.I don't remember reading post from probably over 90% of the posters stating Ewing is the worst coach in college bball....so yes I believe the mob is exaggerating his lack of coaching ability.

Regardless of the evolution of poster sentiment, there are mounting objective and subjective reasons to think Ewing is among the worst coaches in college basketball. W/L record, advanced metrics, player attrition, never taking accountability, hiring and retaining the same staff that never sniffed contention for an at large bid over 5 seasons,, dobo on his phone during games. And this is at a University with a lot of advantages over most conference opponents. Your initial statement said you thought he was better than Wojo. Wojo looks like John Wooden when objectively compared to Ewing.

What BE schools would you say we were more talented then last year? Can you list them here? .500 or in other words 10 BE wins seems really ambitious considering the talent in the roster.
