That is a fair take.
I am still excited for Wednesday night, and hoping that we live to see Thursday.
I hate Hoya losses, but what I really hate is the offseason.

The offseason would be very exciting with a new coach. If it’s business as usual, transfers in and out should provide entertainment.

Hoping the security guards recognize PE this year, so we don’t have to listen to that entire side show again.

What is there to write about in this thread? Ending the pain quickly so we can focus on the off-season and start to put whatever is planned in motion is much more appealing to me than winning a game or two before being sent home.

Last year I had the Hoyas at 60-1 and thought it made sense with the Gillespie injury that there was a viable path to the finals that was hedgeable once you got there. Donated half the winnings to Hoya Hoop Club. TBD if there will be any future donations based on the next couple of weeks.
I um....will not be doing that this year. We're not even on the right side of the bracket for a miracle run. If I do anything i might be on Marquette at 7.5 to 1. Beating Providence is the easier path and then you can take your chances against the Nova / UConn winner or should be able to hedge then.

Why are you so adamant on defining it as a “fluke”? It’s an odd obsession. If you care to read the rest of the thread on that page, I was directly responding to other people using the term. But fine, if you don't like the word fluke because of its negative connotation (which I referenced in my post, I would add), I'll say it was an unlikely but really cool thing that happened, and we could all enjoy. Also 2003 last year’s team played good, solid D all year long. The D became really good when we moved Juggy to 6th man. I believe alot of people are remembering last year's D based off the Colorado performance. Really it was just UCONN and Colorado. We played solid D pretty much outside of UCONN, which was a bad match up.

Any questions for Pat? I’ll start:
Given the team’s record, it’s clear that everyone could have done a better job. As head coach, what could you have done better?
Then again, it might be one of his last press conferences. Maybe go with:
We’ve seen you blame your players for not sticking to the game plan. What blame do you have in your team having the worst record in BE history and most losses in a season in the history of the program?

Why should supporters of the program think next year will be materially better?

As much as I hate to say it, I like UCONN to win the BET this year. They seem to have all the pieces fitting just now, winning 6 of their last seven games. I think they are a tough out for Villanova - the Wildcats lost to the Huskies in February in Hartford. Can Marquette beat Providence again? They throttled the Friars by 32 points in the beginning of January then lost by two at the Dunk late in the same month. That should be a great game.

Got to love the talent that the DMV provides to the Big East
1st Team -- Justin Lewis - Baltimore, MD, RJ Cole, Howard 2nd Team -- Jared Bynum, Georgetown Prep, Largo, MD, Justin Moore, Ft. Washington (Nate Watson, Portsmouth, VA -- only technically DMV) Honorable Mention -- Darryl Morsell, Baltimore All Freshmen -- Jordan Hawks, Gaithersburg
Not sure about listing Aminu as Temple Hills -- he lived there what, one year? Kind of like out Dante Harris was "born" in DC.
I'll be rooting on Wednesday ... but very depressed about the program.

About last years Big East Tourney win: over at Casual a long time fan and season ticket holder writes a letter to Degoia and Reed about the need for a real program change. It is a thorough and well written piece that covers it all. The one line that really struck me was in reference to the BET win:
"A program that uses its one recent accomplishment of winning the Big East Tournament (a collective accomplishment, not a singular one) as a cudgel to help justify its desire to stay the course rather than as a stepping stone for future success, has failed."
Indeed it sure was a "collective accomplishment' despite Ewing and his fan club intimating that it was all Patrick's leadership.

Hope to see at least a few others for our nightcap game on Wednesday! If you see someone wearing my avatar, say hello! Not available in any store, so it will have to be me!

Honestly, anything other than an embarrassing loss on Wednesday would be a detriment to the ultimate goal here.

Ewing's teams have ranked #9, #9, #10, #10, #11 in the Big East in defensive efficiency in his 5 seasons. The coach attributes every loss to either not executing the game plan or effort. There have been a ton of different players at Georgetown over the last 5 seasons, including some strong individual defenders. There's more than enough sample size to conclude that the defensive schemes and scouting reports are woefully inadequate and that it won't improve sufficiently with the current staff.

Doesn't detract a lot from the point you're making, though.

Good point ... but Georgetown should be able to lure great starting guards from Howard imo. But yes, a Jersey guy.

Honestly, anything other than an embarrassing loss on Wednesday would be a detriment to the ultimate goal here. That is an insult to the players who spend hundreds and hundreds of hours for the blue and gray.

There was an opportunity a few months ago, but yeah about 15-16 losses later, "it's too late to change stuff."
The "run it back" mantra, whether game-by-game or season-by-season, is sickening at this point.
