A replay of the effort I saw in person at the home Villanova game would be nice.

We have played well against Nova lately-let's keep it up. Jay knows that if he loses a game here or there to us then maybe Patrick will keep his job and in the end that will be the best for everyone (except Georgetown) in BE. Just kidding of course.

Coaching and lineup decisions will play a critical role in this one. - It really comes down to whether Nova keeps Dixon on the court or goes small. Dixon is having a great season, but leaving him out there lets us keep one of our centers on the court. The last game really flipped when Nova went small, it didn't really give our center anywhere to hide on defense. And that's really the problem with our centers. There are teams that are going to create mismatches for our defense when we play a center. The question then becomes can that center make the other team pay on offense. Qudus could last year, this year's crop can't. So it becomes a losing proposition when they go small
- I do think we're better prepared to handle going small tomorrow than we were earlier in the season. Ewing has been more willing to go there, and the guys at least have a little more experience with those lineups. While I highlighted how Billingsley struggles as a small ball center, you would think matching him up with Jermaine Samuels in those lineups is a no brainer. Be ready with the substitution when they go there, no hesitation.
- Obviously Gillespie is a matchup problem. Dante is best positioned to chase him around the perimeter and fight over ball screens. But he has no chance in the post. That's what makes Gillespie such a unique matchup. And when Nova goes small it's really difficult to double Gillespie in the post. I'd be tempted to let Dante stay on Daniels and let Carey and Aminu deal with Moore / Gillespie. I can live with Caleb Daniels post ups. And if Aminu wants to get paid as a defender at the next level, he should be taking on the biggest challenge. Hopefully he's given that chance.
- Can we speed Nova up with our press? I doubt it, but clearly you need to muck this one up somehow to stay competitive.
I'm not looking forward to the betting line being posted, I would guess 17? And I don't even think I can take the points

I will never root for our guys to lose. It’s just not in me to do it. But if some of the rumors swirling in other threads are remotely true, then winning this game would be a detriment to that effort imo. Or at least force kicking the can down the road a little longer which is less than ideal.
That said, a win over Nova always tickles my fancy.

I just realized that this Saturday is my Diamond Jubilee birthday (yeah I'm that old). To honor not just me but my contemporaries Tommy Okeefe, Jack McGee, Frank Hollendonner, and Jimmy Brown the Hoyas will pull an amazing upset at Nova this weekend. I can feel it in my geezer bones.

St. John's sped Nova up a lot at the end of their last game and nearly made up a 20 minute deficit in under 4 minutes. Forced something like 8 turnovers in the last 3 minutes. SO, sure you might give up a layup/dunk here or there, but if you're going to give those up in the halfcourt anyways, may as well try to steal some possessions while you're at it. At this point, Jay knows it's coming when we get down double digits. Up to us to surprise them by starting well before that.

Step one to a possible win would be to duct tape Gillespie to a chair and be sure he never touches the ball. His catch and release, esp. from 3-point range, is incredible, even to the point where I'd like to see a halftime exhibition between him and Kaiden popping three's from around the arc on a timer. Solid entertainment right there.

Don't worry Johnny there is no chance of us winning @ Nova. Root to your hearts desire. I'm personally saving all of my rooting energy for the DePaul game...….

For what it's worth, last year KenPom projected the odds of Georgetown making the BET final at 3.1% and winning 0.8%. Tomorrow, our odds of winning are 2%. So, stastisically, our winning tomorrow's game would be an enormous upset.
We do tend to pay up to the competition against Villanova. While a win would be nice, I think it's exceedingly unlikely. But, you never know. That's why we play the games.

I commend all of you that have the bandwidth to break down each game and I mean that seriously. The only thing I'm able to predict for this game (and all others at this point) is pain.

the running joke...
There’s no way he said that. Who can confirm?
Wright probably said, “Pat is doing a great job down there.”
