But the point is, it is possible to create a new brand and be great again, even as a smaller Catholic school.

Why not Georgetown because this school has been marred with nepotism attributed to its success in the 80's, which is now 40 years removed.
If Wright forces his sons and former player to coach at Villanova after his retirement, and they tank like we do, maybe we can have another narrative on the comparison.
Quick question - what got Ed Reed to get the job as AD at Georgetown? Our former AD before Reed, coincided with our success in the 06-08 seasons got a gig at Stanford. Just trying to figure out Reed's qualification and the comparative AD's resumes/success level at other schools

Just trying to figure out Reed's qualification and the comparative AD's resumes/success level at other schools www.cleveland.com/sports/csu/2009/03/cleveland_state_ad_lee_reed_re.htmlWhen Waters became available in spring 2006, he made the move to get him. "I had the vision and can see it so clearly of making this one of the better programs in the country," said Reed. "We had to stick to the plan. It's not as much frustrating as it is a journey. "I told my staff to be ready for this. Let's take advantage of it. We want the city to notice. All of our players, all the blood, sweat and tears they go through, they choose to play their hearts out for this city. We are the only university that wears Cleveland on its chest." Reed said he wanted to make sure to credit his entire staff of administrators and coaches, with special praise for outgoing CSU President Dr. Michael Schwartz

Every BE program is trending the right way. It’s going to get more difficult every year (with a down year here or there). DePaul, the traditional doormat, has made the moves to be competitive by hiring a new AD and basketball head coach. www.google.com/amp/s/amp.kentucky.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/john-clay/article252388493.htmlTo be clear, our AD is not to blame for what’s happening in the basketball program since that program was removed from the AD’s supervision decades ago. What will Jack do?

Ed Reed works for the Miami Dolphins. For the past 12 years, Lee Reed has been the athletic director at Georgetown. As to his predecessor, he sits in the best college athletic job in America, with a $600 million athletics endowment all his own. Yet, Bernard Muir did comparatively little in his four years at Georgetown and was quick to depart to continue to build his resume.

The hiring of Brian Wiese is the only notable thing that stands out about Muir's GU tenure. The foundation for the basketball success under him was established prior to his arrival. I recall being surprised he went to Delaware, and not sure how much he accomplished there. But apparently overseeing a CAA football program allowed him to parlay that job into Stanford's job. Though maybe he gets the Stanford job anyway based off his Notre Dame experience.

Perennial winner who engages with the fan base on a regular and effective basis.

Wiese was a great hire, but Muir was also the one who passed on Brian White, the offensive coordinator under Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin, to hire Kevin Kelly.
