The biggest improvement this team needs to make is playing 40 minutes of defense, not 20.
That would allow for most of the consistent inconsistency on offense.

Most teams players stayed for that 5th year … imagine if we had Pickett and Bile …. Something to think about .. I gone complete 180 on this topic. The only player from last year that I want back is Juggy...I thought Dante was gonna make a bigger leap. Better guard play helps this team plus we could count on Juggy for 20pts a night.

Past the point of moral victories. Players and staff need to start demonstrating they are learning from mistakes and correct them. They continue to both fall short in that regard. Staff: F- for not using the press earlier. We even got dipstick Dickey Simpkins wondering now why we don't press earlier. Butler offense stalled greatly when we finally brought it out down 12 and gave us a chance to come back. Don't keep telling me you're going to go back and watch film and somehow still fail to realize that the press is the only consistent thing we can do defensively and only utilize it after it's too late. If that's the case, then I question whether or not you know what you're watching on tape. Simpkins was slurping over Ewing's instructions in the huddle to drive it to the rim and and get back on defense. He kept giving us credit in driving to the rim and finding some success, but let's be honest: there were a handful of times we didn't get back in transition (including runouts following our misses... this is Butler, not UConn!) and if you only follow half of the instructions, you get half the results and that's not enough for this team to win a close game. Not going to harp on the problems with the big men (PS what on earth was that Mutombo/Billingsley combo?); it's a broken record at this point and Ewing rightfully went away from them completely in the 2nd half. But good lord was the PG play brutal today. Countless backbreaking turnovers by both Harris/Beard, matador defense in letting Thompson/Harris get to the rim, and virtually nothing in terms of offense (3-13 FG, 1-5 from 3 combined). No one shot the ball particularly well save maybe Aminu, but we cannot just have that poor of a level of decision making from both of them. Neither is even a decent option at this point and that really hurts. There are games like Tuesday where it's probably an L before we even walk through the door. Then there are games like today where I expect results and it should be reasonable to get them if we make the adjustments and correct mistakes like we're supposed to. Very disappointing loss and I'm just not sure at this point where the next win comes from. You are correct the press is our best defense. Coach Ewing can’t spin about going back to watch film. The team has shown improvements but playing smart and their man to man defense is not good at all.

Thought we played better basketball in the 2nd half vs the 1st half.
Even when the lead started to grow early in the 2nd half, we made some adjustments in personnel and defense and it was a dog fight to the very end.
Props to the staff and players for not giving up on themselves in a trying season. That says a lot about this group.
Most people would fold under such circumstances. It is quite evident some have done it already.
Thankfully, not this team nor the staff have given up the fight.
Keep persevering. Keep the fight.
Go Hoyas!

The action on that last possession was…something. This staff is completely overmatched. It makes you wonder if anybody at a University leadership level watches the games… Can anyone confirm that Lee Reed actually exists?

You can count on three things when Georgetown runs the full court press:
1. It will appear in the middle of the second half. 2. It will force two or sometimes three turnovers. 3. It will disappear thereafter.

This is a comment that I made to a poster as a response to his comment about this being painful but I think it applies to most of us in here. I think if it applies to you, you really need to take my advice.
You know some fans watch teams their whole life and the team never make it to a Superbowl championship, a World Series, a Stanley cup a Natonal championship or whatever the goal is. Some fans watch their teams and year in and year out, they are so miserable especially when their teams don't even win games or are losers every year (example the home football team).
Can you imagine a guy who roots for a team and all they do is lose each year? Each Sunday or whatever day it is that their team is on television, they sit in front of the tv and for 2 hours or 4 hours or whatever, all they do is cuss at the tv, throw shoes, the remote or whatever they can find at the tv when their team makes bonehead mistakes. Then on Monday they go to work grumpy, just sooooo grumpy! Blood pressure be all high and hair falling out their head. But guess what they do, they come back on Sunday and go through the same ol' ritual, the same ol' pain.
Next thing you know, they start drinking and getting depressed and before you know it, 10 years go by, 20 years go by and their team is still losing, still sucking and that poor fan is still watching cursing and still miserable. Why don't you just give it a break pal until the team gets better. That would be my advice to you.
It doesn't make you less of a fan if you give your team a one to two year break. Not at all it won't. So why don't you take some time out and get yourself better buddy.

It is incredibly painful to watch these games I actually enjoy the games. I can see improvement and I know what should be expected of the team which is last place or next to it. If I were you, I would take a break from watching the games until the team improves and then come back and watch them. That way you don't have to be so miserable and antagonize yourself like you do. If you were anything more than a caricature of an actual rational human being, I’d respond to all the offensive, ignorant things you said in this post. But like I said earlier, you’re the annoying black fly that we can’t get rid of. So I’ll leave it at that.
