Based on what I saw this Saturday he is the fave at this time to start at the SF/three this season. Jay Heath first off the bench. He was very solid at Howard...you would have to assume playing for Ewing took his development back a few notches...glad he is having a strong start to Kenner, he always plays hard.

"Based on what I saw (at Kenner)" is a tough basis from which to draw conclusions about players' performances during the real season. We've all had our hopes and expectations crushed. Nevertheless.....nice to see Bristol have a strong showing. He'll get his chance for sure.

Nevertheless.....nice to see Bristol have a strong showing. He'll get his chance for sure. Is not that tough a basis. While far from perfect it is as reliable as any measurement other than what that player did in his previous college season. There are a lot of Terp fans right now more excited about their upcoming season based upon reports about their players’ performances so far this summer in the KL. They don’t dismiss it as summer league but as signs of things to come. And besides as I always say rarely do people here stick up for a player’s chances if they don’t perform well in the KL. So why even post anything about their play in the KL at all, right? It is a lose-lose scenario. Also from my account at least when it comes to Bristol I am also taking into consideration all the other options on the team who could fill that role.

If the difference between playing Heath higher minutes in Big East play is the difference between a 5-15 record, and an 8-10 record, for example, I would choose the latter, as long as our younger guys get playing time too. This program has had so much losing in recent years, we need to try to win meaningful games and show there's a spark there. I know this is a hypothetical, but I know that you know that the difference between Heath and Epps or Brumbaugh is not 3 wins. Heath's best season has been 2 win shares, Epps basically matched that in his freshman year. I doubt the difference between Heath and Hashem Asad is three wins. Three wins is a giant gulf in value. I doubt you could find any players on losing teams with high WS totals...

No reason to put unreasonable expectations on a kid based on Kenner, but Wayne does seem to be a great candidate to make a huge leap on the court.
Don't forget he didn't play competitive basketball for nearly 2 years previous to last season. After his 2019-20 MEAC ROY campaign, he missed the entire 2020-21 season with an injury and then sat out the 2021-22 season as a transfer. His sophomore year of eligibility was basically 3 seasons.

Good luck to Wayne. He never quite got the "3" side of the "3 and D" going during his time as a Hoya, but he always appeared to be a willing soldier.

At this point, maybe you wished you had stayed at Howard ( 2 years in a row in the dance ). In any case- thanks for the hard work, hustle and solid D- much needed this year.
