Bummer result, but looking forward to NCAA selection, which would be a feat in and of itself considering how the season started.
By the way, I was surprised to see this the game was at Maryland Soccerplex, I guess this is the first year that this wasn't held at campus venues?

Looking at that draw, seems we might have been seeded if we won the BE. Oh, well. I like our chances to get to Washington.

At least they are not playing Virignia.

At least they are not playing Virignia. That would be much more convenient from an "attending the game" standpoint, but from an emotional standpoint, that's just a real tough environment to be in right now. I'll never forget going to a Georgetown lacrosse game in 2007 and finding Deron Washington there, understandably freaked out by what had just transpired at Virginia Tech and looking to be around some familiar and comforting faces.

So when they say home field advantage goes to us in the Navy game, I am sure hoping it is Shaw Field.
Those going to Tulsa need to try the Burn Company for great barbeque. Was there years ago for a soccer tourney with a granddaughter. Very good BBQ

Was wondering if/hoping this would actually happen:
What would be really cool is if we could do home-and-homes within the divisions, rather than the imbalanced 5 in-division + 3 cross-division model they opted for, such that the Hoyas would get to avoid having to play on the turf monsters that are the Butler Bowl, Wish Field, and whatever Xavier's pitch is called. Although Creighton's Morrison Stadium is a gem and those are great regular season battles.

Unless they do go to a fall/spring model and allow a couple more games....

Unless they do go to a fall/spring model and allow a couple more games.... This year, with 11 teams, they played a 10-game conference schedule - you play every team once. They are moving to 12 teams and an imbalanced 8-game conference schedule: you play each of the other 5 teams in your division once plus 3 of the 6 teams in the other division. My proposal would be to not have any cross-division games until the tournament, but rather home-and-homes with each of the other five teams in your division for a total of 10 conference games, same as now.

I agree wholeheartedly. Cross division tournament would be exciting and would tend to favor the Hoyas who play unlike almost every other team in the league , style wise.

Have nothing against Akron or their soccer team, and honestly know v little about them… curious 1. Why are we adding another team to the BE? 2. why are we adding them specifically ?

At a glance, it adds a very good program (four College Cup appearances since 2010) that needs a home after the MAC dropped soccer. This allows the Big East to split along divisions to reduce travel schedules with the Classic Big East (UConn, Georgetown, PC, Seton Hall, St. John's, Villanova) on one end and Akron with the western members (Butler, Creighton DePaul, Marquette, and Xavier) on the other. Akron hosts a first round game this weekend versus Pitt. Average attendance is 1,354 a game, which is above what Georgetown's average was this year.

Hoyas with clearly superior performance in first half. Outshooting them 15-2 or so.
Just need to pot one or two and end this.

Great strike by Murrell puts Hoyas up 2-0 in the 70th. Hoyas in great position to go to Tulsa for Saturday night.
