I haven’t seen any mention of his name on these boards but I wanted to create a new thread dedicated to the most beloved member of what was supposed to be the 07-08 football class. Matt Barnes unceremoniously left GU after his freshman year to play football at Salisbury. As a friend of his, he was always too nice and humble to ever say a bad word about the way GU handled his situation but for better or worse he decided transferring was his best option.
However, GU’s loss was Salisbury’s gain as he ended up having a great career as a linebacker there and has since forged his way into a very successful coaching career. His Salisbury degree in fact was a boost to his career as he was able to tap into some valuable coaching contacts in their network along the way. He is now calling the defense for the #3 team in the country at Ohio State after taking over duties from the defensive coordinator after their week 1 loss to Oregon. Everyone at GU that was lucky enough to meet him loved him and couldn’t be happier for him. Go Bucks

I would echo everything above. Stand up guy who deserves everything he has accomplished. He's moved on to the Memphis DC job but fully expect him to be steering a major program in the near future. Extremely bright and determined guy.
