Until recently on the GU Alumni web page there was a link to an Alumni Directory whereby people/classes, etc. could be searched for any reason or no reason. This no longer appears to be the case. I called and received a written voicemail which told me how to connect with “Affinity Groups” via the “Network” tab. This is not what I am after. Does anyone have knowledge of this.

I noticed that myself. I am still wondering what happened.

I'm a Luddite so no idea why they buried the link but go to the Georgetown.edu website; slide across the top left to "Info For"; scroll down and click on Alumni. It will take you to Quick Links and scroll down to Alumni Directory. Log in and you'll find the Directory. Like most things on the Hilltop, it's there; you just have to find it; and Georgetown won't make it easy.

Just tried to search for an Alum I know. Things seem to have changed (even since the requirement to enter a texted code was instituted). Is there no more Alumni Directory?

When I saw this post, I logged on today and it seems to be working. That said, universities are getting less and less comfortable offer personal information about alumni, whether because of data harvesting or just that some alumni will ask for a "do not contact" status. A printed directory seems to be a non-starter at this point. I have beaten this drum for a while now, but the definition of what an alumnus is bears scrutiny. Georgetown now claims 220,000 alumni worldwide, double that of Harvard and Notre Dame (110,000) and more than Villanova (135,000), Duke (150,000), BC (188,000), or DePaul (200,000), Why and how? While the 2023 numbers aren't posted yet, here are the numbers from 2022, which listed GU has having graduated almost 8,000 students that weekend: Undergraduate (1,775)College of Arts & Sciences: 859 Walsh School of Foreign Service: 386, plus 87 in Qatar McDonough School of Business: 330 School of Nursing & Health Studies: 113 Graduate (6,093)School of Continuing Studies: 1,622 Law Center: 1,374 Graduate School of Arts & Sciences: 1,067 McDonough School of Business: 776 Walsh School of Foreign Service: 509 McCourt School of Public Policy: 235 School of Nursing & Health Studies: 314 School of Medicine: 196 www.georgetown.edu/news/a-resilient-class-of-2022-graduates-from-the-hilltop/It's not a stretch to suggest that 80% of the University's collective effort in alumni relations focuses on undergraduate alumni, and probably more when it comes to athletics. But with most graduate students residing locally, maybe there's some hidden opportunity here.

I think that graduate students and graduate alumni are a hugely-undertapped potential for basketball fandom. Hopeful that the new staff will start to reach out.

I went to law school at Vanderbilt and a lot of my classmates that didn't go to schools with big sports programs ended up becoming pretty serious Commodore fans. I'd have to think that the potential for Georgetown is higher--at Vanderbilt, we had a lot of students who did their undergraduate work at other SEC schools. I suspect that GU's graduate programs have a higher proportion of NESCAC and Ivy types who might be in the market for a high-major team to support.
