Dante is in New York so I assume he will be there too.

Dante is in New York so I assume he will be there too. Don Carey and Dante Harris are representing the Georgetown Hoyas at Big East media day. Nice kids, but c'mon man...your Patrick Ewing era Georgetown Hoyas, ladies and gentlemen! For the record, I'd have sent Ryan Mutombo and Aminu Muhammad. Mutombo has a great personality, obvious story line and seems to be very media savvy. Plus if we're going to do anything this season, it's likely that Muhammad will have been the main reason.

Two incoming freshmen with no reps from the BET championship team? Makes sense.

They’re probably the co-captains because there’s no one else on the roster with more playing experience for the Hoyas.

The last time we had so much playing time available GU ended up with 3 players (Mac, Akinjo and Josh) on the BE All-Freshmen Team and two (Blair and Pickett) the previous year as well. If reports are true about JB and with so much pt available for the taking, I wouldn’t be surprised if Aminu, Jordan and one of JB or RM ended up there at the end of the season.

So many people in this board lament Patrick Ewing and staff's inability to to recruit well. Listening to Gene Smith's podcast this evening, it seems that many, close enough, over the years to the program are justifiably critical of the University's willingness and ability to invest marketing the Men's Basketball program through standard. Contemporary marketing, including social media, Twitter, Instagram, etc. It is not all on Patrick Ewing to do these things. With the university having a prestigious business school, one would think it would be easy to get students to provide social media marketing through work-study, or part-time work. Somehow the University needs to step up its marketing efforts!!

If he wants what you’re saying, it’s up to Pat to demand it.

I think the University was willing to give la famiglia a lot of leeway as a measure of respect to the elder Thompson, but that may or may not the case going forward. Men's basketball communications is very, very low on the GU priority list now. It is not all on Patrick Ewing to do these things. With the university having a prestigious business school, one would think it would be easy to get students to provide social media marketing through work-study, or part-time work. Somehow the University needs to step up its marketing efforts!! I am not sure whether the basketball office would open its doors to any students that were not very closely linked to the program. The basketball office has the largest budget by far in the athletic department and they choose not to invest in marketing.

NEW YORK – Big East Conference media day kicked off Tuesday at Madison Square Garden and Xavier University's men's basketball team was picked to finish third in the preseason coaches poll and the Musketeers had two players selected to the All-Big East preseason first-team. Fifth-year senior Paul Scruggs was a unanimous first-team selection and junior Zach Freemantle, who was the co-most improved player in the conference last year, joins Scruggs with first-team honors. Villanova sits atop the poll for the seventh time in the last eight seasons, receiving 10 first-place votes. The Wildcats are led by fifth-year senior guard Collin Gillespie, who was picked preseason player of the year. Connecticut was picked second, St. John's was fourth, Seton Hall fifth, Butler sixth, Providence seventh, Creighton eighth, Marquette ninth, Georgetown 10th and DePaul 11th. www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/college/xavier/xaviersports/2021/10/19/preseason-big-east-basketball-poll-has-xavier-musketeers-third/8505197002/

Your Patrick Ewing era Georgetown Hoyas, ladies and gentlemen! Is this your way of trashing Patrick? Otherwise I don’t see your point. Just stating a fact - we're picked to finish 10th in the conference and our media day representatives are Don Carey and Dante Harris. This is during Ewing's 5th year at the helm. Those are all indisputable facts - this is where Patrick Ewing has us as a program.

He was us reigning Big East Tournament Champions with two players in the NBA, the incoming BE PFOY, and the returning BET MOP.
