An exemplary leader and soldier-statesman, the likes of which are sadly exceedingly rare in today's America.
RIP.

I would have liked him to be president, but it seems as if the timing was never right. Sad he died of Covid-19, especially being fully vaccinated. May he rest in peace.

This thread really needs the enclosed link: www.aol.com/news/lied-iraqis-still-blame-powell-171618052-174722699.htmlMassive respect for Powell's military service-a truly outstanding soldier and Joint Chief of Staff. At the same time, while he managed Foggy Bottom and the internal workings of the State Department well, history will remember him as a mendacious and duplicitous Secretary of State who lacked, to cite Sen. McCain's language, the moral courage to stand up his Administration superiors on WMD. His UN appearance will not grace U. S. Diplomatic History well, to say nothing of the thousands of Iraqi and American lives wasted on lies and blind familial vengance as what passed for foreign policy at the turn of the century.
