GU should seriously consider dropping football. if the administration does not care nor truly want to compete - we should give it up and allocate resources to other sports. after 20 years of this - - its more than obvious unless there's dramatic changes throughout this program - we arent going anywhere in a very weak overall conference.

It's not the football team's fault. It's the Patriot League. Six schools can recruit athletes Georgetown cannot because of the arcane PL admissions rules.

DFW HOYA, really, it's all the Patriot League's fault? I never said it's all the Patriot League. If a recruit has a choice between a full ride from one school and a packaged aid deal from Georgetown, that recruit picks the full ride nearly every time. Notwithstanding, the idea that the Patriot League, not Georgetown University, sets the criteria for admission for students is wrong. The idea that a football recruit could be admitted to Stanford, Duke, Northwestern...or Holy Cross, Lehigh and Fordham... but not Georgetown because his SAT fell beyond one standard deviation of a 1475, begs the question why this is acceptable to Georgetown in football but not for any of its 29 sports.

I dont believe this is just a recruiting issue. we beat 2 Ivies in 2019 and we beat a # of PL teams in 2018 (and completely gifted a game to HC in season finale). we finally open up the new stadium and yet the program has really gone backwards. if the PL truly hinders our recruiting BC of our overall higher academic standards (and we cant alter that) then why not become an Independent? being in the PL does nothing for us anyway. Our program is in a really bad way now. it just feels as if the program 'exists' - it has weak sponsorhip from GU, really weak leadership and other than the kids who play nobody cares on campus (and after decades of truly mediocre to embarasing results - one understands that sentiment). I dont know why we maintain this program anymore. convert the stadium to a soccer and lacrosse venue
