45 minutes, no goals. Hoyas have had the better of the possession and the chances, but haven't found the right play in the final third, and didn't get the one PK they eh maybe probably should have.

ESPN+ has a technical difficulties screen up but the game shows up fine through the GUHoyas app. 0-0 at the half after the ref ignored a blatant foul from behind of Gia Vicari in the box that should have resulted in a PK.

Livingston off a free kick, Cleverly with a cracker from the top of the box, and Leas slotting home a loose ball. Hoyas up 3-0, <20 to play.

Leas with a cracker of her out from the top of the box, Fox off a through ball from Leas, Harwood knocks in a cross for her first career tally. 6-0 with 5 minutes and change to play. This is fun.

Final whistle with the margin still 6-0, and on to the next round against the winner of Santa Clara-Stanford later today.

Jere Smith and the Santa Clara Broncos return to Shaw Field to play our Hoyas in Round 2....Deja Vu event albeit a bit different. In 2016 Stanfurd was seeded #1 and we were going to have to go to Kagan Field for Round 2 except SCU beat the Trees, and with us being the higher seed they had to plane hop...This time UCLA made that happen.
Looks like tons of speed and size up front with Halverson, and we will need to watch D'Aquila in the air (SCUs version of our Sydney Cummings).
The announcers made mention of Nezu getting the yellow card keeps her out of the next game. Is this true? Would certainly help our chances---she of the Japanese Nat'l team.
I am still in awe of what I saw today in the way of offensive firepower. CCSU was not exactly chopped liver as we saw in the first half. Wonder what was being "served" at the intermission in our locker room.
Door is open with SCU, UCI and Wisky waiting.

Santa Clara beats Stanford, 1-0, so they'll be our opponent the next round. Based on the box score, a cagey first half, with only 3 shots total (15 for the game).

You are correct Dan. The announcer must have gotten the wrong player, so it may be a non event. I suspect it was Loera on the card that was issued. I know it wasn't the first one on D'Aquila. However it plays out, whether it is Loera or no-one who is out, I think it is better that all participate as the teams advance unless a blatant dirty play. We shall see, but thanks for the correction. Now, go Hoya men today.

Looks like the Hoyas-Santa Clara game will be Friday at 11:00am at Shaw Field. Glad we can play at 8am Pacific time, and looks like some mid-40s weather to welcome our west coast guests.

Men's game, where the selection show just ended, already shows it is on ESPN+....Women's game nothing yet.....Not time to panic but if anyone hears?

*Womp womp* I think Santa Clara put up a stink and got the game moved up to 1:30, while the Anteater/Badger jamboree has been moved to George Mason.

The UCI/Wisky game may have been moved because of time restraints, but I am leaning to the amount of play that Shaw "may" get (and I emphasize may, as we don't want to get ahead of ourselves). There is tomorrow at 1:30 and Sunday 11AM for the men for sure. Then there is the possibility of ladies final on Shaw too, and then depending how far the men go even more play. The field, especially in the 6 yard box looks like it is getting torn up pretty badly. I am not sure that ground crews, as hard as they try at this time of year, can make it much better.

1-1 at the half. Cummings header off a corner kick tied it after the Broncos' Turnbow put one in the upper right corner from the top of the box to open the scoring. The Hoyas' best chances have come off of set pieces, with Vicari putting one just wide on a designed play off a free kick. No surprise, the defending national champs are pretty good.
