We have been going after top guys forever, but we haven't gotten a top 25 prospect in quite some time. We used to get these guys routinely and while I'm happy with our class, I want a legit blue chipper before I'll contend that we are back playing in the majors.

Good find, SPH. Also Donte Green is #36 on that list, and he lists Georgetown, Maryland, and Syracuse as favorites.
I've started looking at '07 recruiting more lately as we seem to have hit a lull in '06 recruiting, as we all wait anxiously for Macklin and Crews' decisions. I'd love to get Chris Wright, who is one of the better local guards in the past few years. He's getting a lot of attention from ACC schools though I know, and Maryland fans seem to think its just a matter of time before he commits there. I'd love to steal him though.
I think the ideal class would be Wright, McClain, and one of the 3 power forwards (Hickson, Vaughn, Green). I don't know enough about the 3 PFs to declare to suggest who is best, but I'm sure III knows who is the best fit for our style. I've heard a lot of good things about Green, and it says Vaughn is a pretty good student, so that may factor in too. I think McClain oughta be first priority though. A talented local 7 footer, who we're probaly the unofficial leader for..... He'd be a perfect fit. He could work in with/back up Roy for his freshman year and then take over fulltime the following year.

I think the Hoyas are completely focused on their top target (Macklin) and of course Duke Crews, Taj Gibson, and some others who are still on radar, but I know that '07 group has gotten a lot of attention from Staff so far and in Scout.Com's top 50 for '07 Hoyas have been mentioned by 9 of the kids. Braxton Dupree is another name to keep your eye on as well.
The program is becoming a beast on recruiting trail again and despite what some people think, recruiting does matter. (not saying anyone on this site, but some think it's overstated--rankings are overhyped, but not getting TALENT--that's how you win as DFW's said time and time again)

I think the top rankings are pretty ridiculous, but you definitely want kids who are in the top 50 because otherwise you are constantly reaching looking for the hidden gem. That is OK every once in awhile, but if you have four Anthony Perry's coming in every year, a couple of them are going to pan out. If you only bring in one, who knows. I think recruiting is all about hard work, connections and energy and our young staff definitely seems to possess that.
