We should have a thread for our Hoyas. Question of the day is what seed are we looking at? I'd love to be a 11/12 but don't think that's possible. We cannot be a 14, that would be disgraceful.

I’m not sure it matters too much. We are a tough out regardless. We could take most teams out, We could alway drop a stinker too. Hope the seniors enjoy every second of it.

Fox is predicting 13 FWIW We are now in the mid 50s on Ken Pom. If you factor in recency weighting you can make a strong argument for 11/12. The seed lines are always fungible since you have to factor in so many things. For example Creighton and Nova both could be 5s and thus we couldn’t play them. So sometimes you get moved up or down a line to accommodate other factors. Given all the AQs out there 13 is the absolute worst we could be.

Georgetown's miracle run adds to the madness of committee seeding Field of 68 - by Mike Decourcy, Sporting News "What Georgetown accomplished by reclaiming the Big East Tournament championship didn’t just ruin Creighton’s Saturday evening and cause an outbreak of heartburn from Syracuse to Boise. The Hoyas also made a challenging job even trickier for the members of the NCAA men’s basketball committee. Known colloquially as the "selection committee," they now must deal with how to seed into a field filled with elite mid-major teams, successful major-conference teams and this year’s powerhouses a Georgetown team that won four games in four days and still only managed to scramble to a position one game over the .500 mark." www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/march-madness-selection-committee-ncaa-tournament-georgetown-field-of-68/166lwxi12l2to1rrqv283zfkby

It’s such a strange season - I bet the seedings will be all over the place in general. I wonder how the committee will consider the five games we never got to play. Conservatively, we could have added 3 more wins among those games. Will be interesting to see.

Does a Oregon St win help or hurt us? Probably help IMO.

We finished the season 10-4 post Covid pause and a new lineup with a PG change and the Bile insertion/emergence.
Anyone truly paying attention could not seed this team 13-14. I would say 12 or better.
Our last 14 game defensive statistics are STRONG!

Only missed 4 games. considering how well we are playing could easily have won all four and finished 11-9 and 16-12 overall. As I pointed out in previous posts those four games were against weak BE opponents.

I would say 12 or better. Our last 14 game defensive statistics are STRONG! And all 4 losses to tournament teams. The committee has a secondary issue with Georgetown in that it really screws a high seed if it slots the Hoyas on a lower line. There's no way any coach believes a team with nine new players, no practice, and few warm-up games is some average of the whole season. If the Hoyas are a 13, some 4 will rightfully believe they got hosed.

Whoever we play has to be really concerned. We dig in on defense. We have a quick PG that orchestrates the offense.
And our leading scorer on any given night could be any one of 5 guys, so we are hard to plan against. We just beat 2 solid tourney teams and a bubble team in 3 nights.
Can't wait.

Yeah, I also question whether the committee shouldn't rank us a little higher given that we did not get to have some of the practice time we were supposed to have at the start of the season due to the DC government rules!

Oregon St. holds on to win the Pac-12, which definitely pushes us one spot up on the S-Curve. Bubble teams coming into today have to be really sweating now with Cinci having a shot to pop yet another bubble tomorrow.
Things working in our favor: SOS 7, NCSOS 11. We played a harder schedule than virtually any team in that seed range.
Will be interesting to see how much that NET creeps up tomorrow with all the efficiency gains we made tonight. Looking at somewhere in the 60s, which is normally at the range of what the fringe at-large bubble teams are at.
If I had to guess, it'd be an 11.

Is there concern for us being a play in game? Please tell me I’m just in my head.

Conference champs cannot be in the play-in game, so no worries there.

I hope we don’t play TT, the story would be a distraction.
