It is a shame that Paulus isn't in a Georgetown uniform. I completely agree that we would have received much greater consideration if his recruitment had been a part of the JTIII era rather than the Esherick era. In any case, it looks like we're getting much better, so the future looks bright. In the past, I would be filled with rage and jealousy. Now, I'm just looking forward to us beating Duke. And I say that without it being a stretch.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your point. Not once did I say anything bad about Sapp, Thornton or Rivers. In fact, I'm very happy with our recruits. But the fact remains that Paulus is a very good player who would have been a valuable contributor to our program as well. If you ask virtually anyone who has watched him play, they would take him in a heartbeat....and, since all his brothers came to Georgetown, it would have been nice to keep the family within our own family. On top of that, I never said we wouldn't be fine without Paulus. Sometimes, I question whether your motive on this board is just to inflame others.

To be fair I think this time the_way was being agreeable. He concurred with your point and I don't believe he was trying to be antagonistic. He felt, like you do, that Gtown could realistically beat Duke this season. Then he added that, in his opinion at least, that the Hoyas will do well without Paulus because of the guards they have recruited. That's how I saw it.
With that out of the way (no pun intended) one thing that I think hurt Duke last season and is going to be a problem for them again this upcoming season is that athletically speaking the team is very average. The Blue Devils are nothing like the '98-'99 team that lost to UConn and of course that back-to-back defending national champs squad from the early 90s was obviously far more gifted in that area.

Actually, what I was trying to say is that Alonzo Mourning has better low-post moves than Mike Sweetney. ;D No, you are right about what I was trying to convey.

My St. John's team is catching up to you guys as well. some big recruits in Ricky Torres, Anthony Mason Jr. For 06, SJU will have the best PG in the Big East coming in with Doug Wiggins MVP of ABCD camp All Star game, Qa'rraan Calhoun and possibly Duke Crews who we are competing for. Frankly I love to see the non D1-football schools rising back to the cream of the crop....

While I'm there with the_ways' smack talking, I do hope St. John's is right behind us on the way up the standings.
Our 2005 classes are very similar in the rankings -- mostly in the 75-150 range with a player jumping up, but I think both are a bit underrated.
We've both signed a major climber in the '06 class -- Summers for us and Wiggum for them. I'm not sure how Ralph is going to qualify after failing elementary school English, but he's shooting up the rankings.
The difference, of course, is that we've also signed Jeremiah Rivers and Ewing to their Calhoun. While Rivers' rankings have plummeted, he's playing hurt. While he may not a top 30 talent like some said last year, I sincerely doubt he's regressed. When healthy, he'll be quite a player. We've also got Pat Ewing coming in, and he's better than Mike Davis let him be (plus, he'll have a year of practice). Calhoun may be nice, but I'll take our guys.
I am rooting for the non-D-IA Football schools, tho. Except Nova's fans are really starting to wear.
