Goal: 10 or less turnovers. Could be the impossible dream.

Seton Hall, Xavier, and Creighton seem to have been the worst teams for the Hoyas, matchup-wise, in recent years. The Hall and X mostly because of physical play on both sides of the ball.
I’m not hopeful in this one (especially given the first game this season), but if the Hoyas can stay in it, that should bode well for the last 4+ games of the regular season.

We actually tend to play Nova much more competitively than we have SHU in recent years. There have been more blowouts than close games (let alone wins) in the last few seasons.

Would hope that with a week's time, we could figure out how to have a better offensive gameplan than drive at Obiagu every time down the floor.
Would hope that with a week's time, we could figure out how to have a better defensive gameplan than leave Cale (39%) open repeatedly from 3.
Rhoden was 7-12 from 2, with a lot of them coming from 15-17 feet. He's improved a lot, but if we are going to have to give up something defensively (and we will), that's still the type of shot I would want to give up.
Another manhood type game for the frontcourt (Q, Pickett, Bile) this time around. They passed the test vs. Butler, but they will need to match the physicality of Mamu, Obiagu and Samuel for us to have any chance.

I'm so glad we got Bile in the starting lineup. Now is the time to see how much we really need Bile!!!

Both of them usually hurts us.

Given the longer layoff—any chance there will be another make up game added before SH?

Given the longer layoff—any chance there will be another make up game added before SH? Unless another team’s game (one who we need to play) gets cancelled, it doesn’t seem likely. Of our 4 unscheduled games remaining (DePaul, PC, MU, Xavier) all of them already have midweek games.

TOs were not the cause of the first blowout loss to the Pirates. Hoyas only had 11 (amazing that we tout only 11 TOs now) and Hall had 17. It was horrible 3 pt shooting (17%)and worse defense against their 3 pt shooting (43%). Hoyas also flamed out at the FT line (9/16 compared to 19/24)and got outrebounded though surprisingly the Hoyas had 13 offesnive rebounds. Finally, it was the typical breakdown in the offense when the ball stopped moving every time it went inside to the bigs and led to multiple blocks. Hall had 18 assists compared to 9 for the Hoyas.
I know Ewing loves Wahab and I am certain he sees great potential there, but honestly I do not see the posts as a major strength of this team now. Just the opposite. Forget Tim who is very raw and still a project and may need at least another full season to be ready to contribute in a big way. At this point in the season I hoped Wahab would have learned not to bring the ball down or put it on the floor when he catches an entry pass 4-5 feet from the basket. I hoped he would immediately pass out to an open man when doubled, at least start to take a few 7-10 foot shots in games to pull opponents a little farther away from the basket and learn to stay disciplined on defense and avoid overhelping and clearing the lane for opponents to get easy buckets on either a pass or a putback. All are correctable and by next year hopefully will be, but for me there are just many times I would rather see the team go small and quicker against opponents. Unfortunately going small against Seton Hall is likely not an option.

I hope the team, and especially our bigs are up for it. They got their lunch taken the last game and our team was summarily denied. Let's see if we have really grown. This is a grudge match.

And then play Drake again today. Back to back games against the same team.

Mountain West has done that all year with one day off between games and it is working. Absent fans it really does not matter if the games are at the same location.

Loyola plays Drake two consecutive days in a row.

Juggy has to check Cale or Rhoden and Bile/Morko get Mamou and whoever Juggy doesn't cover....

I remember when Ewing versus Sampson. It was big stuff. Patrick rose up...it was a great battle of the centers. All of our players have to rise up, and the bigs need to show that they've learned something since that time. Their bigs didn't beat us, but they owned the middle. Several dunks by the Hoyas were blocked. It was embarassing!!

During the Ewing days we were loaded with top players and competing for championships. Now, we are excited to be 10th and not 11th in our mediocre league. Apples to oranges. You can’t expect roll players to play like NBA prospects.
