Need to be okay with him driving or posting up without other Hoyas on the floor collapsing and allowing him to kick out for open looks. Marquette allowed that all game long.

Will be good to see Hoyas strategy...It's a good challenge, Seton Hall is strong.

I would think Jamorko will match up with him most of the night and should do a decent job on him, and I think Bile could cover him for some time while Morko is resting. I think the key is to just make him take contested shots all night, either at the 3 point line or when he drives. He has been effective this year, but I will take my chances with him if you can contest his shots. I would not send help to who ever has him unless he he driving to the rim. I think Mamu's two best skills is that he plays so hard and relentlessly that you can't take any plays off against him and he sees the floor well and distributes the ball to open teammates when the other team over helps. Their offense runs through him when he is on the floor but he is not athletic/explosive enough that he should not be able to be covered by one good defender. He is not like Powell was for a few years where when he got hot he was almost impossible to stop. Mamu will make some shots, but he will miss his share if you have a hand in his face. Gotta give the kid credit. He has really improved over his years at Seton Hall. When he started there he seemed to be a decent role/energy player, but not much more than that. Has turned into a really good player.

Same problems with Dawson Garcia on MU and Freemantle on XU.

I don't see anyone being able to guard Mamu away from the basket. Wahab can probably hold his own in the paint but our bigs are too slow to handle him on the perimeter. I'd let Bile and Clarke try to harass him away from the bucket. Should be a real test of his year's team.

This will mean Wahab will have to guard a wing player like Rhoden or Cale a lot, that'll be a tough ask also... Looks like Ike Obiagu plays 20 min or so a game so Wahab would match up with him most of the time. And then Tyrese Samuel is probably filling non-Obiagu minutes so there's a place to put Wahab that's easier than Rhoden or Cale. Samuel is 6-17 from 3 so still a perimeter threat to monitor. But yes in situations where Mamu is at the 5 it will be interesting to see do we keep a big on the court or do we try and go w Pickett and Bile together. Or do we play zone etc. Ultimately Mamu poses a mismatch problem that most teams don't have an answer for. You would think someone like Garcia on Marquette or honestly Pickett is the type of player w best chance. I've always been skeptical of Pickett's defense but he's gonna get every chance to shut him down and show his chops.

This idea is a stretch because we don't really know, but given the thoughts of many, might this be an opportunity by the coach for Malcolm Wilson to show what he can do on the open floor defensively against Mamukelashvilla? Just an idea!!
Also, because Jalen is taking a leave of absence Kobe Clark might step up too, to handle the ball some.

As long as they don’t send Malcolm to the free throw line...wow, just wow!

For all those on the "Q to the NBA Train" after this season, Mamu is a great example of how far Q actually is from the NBA at this point. Mamu's got a more polished offensive game, far more range, and while not the shotblocker Q is, has far more defensive versatility. Even saying all this, Mamu isn't a lock to sneak in the 2nd either.
As for the game itself. When our team wants to play spirited and get up for its opponent, it can hang in there with quality teams (Nova, WVU). When they're going through the motions like they did tonight vs SJU or Navy, they can look bad against anyone and we're just not good enough to survive against any decent team with an off night. Problem is, we never know which team we're going to get. Team has been consistently inconsistent for 3+ years now.
If history is any indicator, Aiken will be fully healthy by the time Wednesday rolls around. That's just the way it always is.
Would like to see us within a couple possessions at the end with a chance to put some game pressure on them in crunch time. About the best I can hope for at this point.
And please, get healthy soon Kobe Clark.

I am okay with SHU chucking threes, but we cannot let them do that AND beat us inside. We cannot allow three-point plays on little hook shots and garbage like that. I think we need all three bigs to rotate in and out.
If SHU shoots like SJU did, they win. If they are not on fire from three, we have a chance.

As long as they don’t send Malcolm to the free throw line...wow, just wow! Yeah, that was just not good for Malcolm. You could almost see he was nervous last night when he struggled to catch a few passes and then on those free throws. It looked like Ewing was hoping to catch a spark with Malcolm's defense and ability to stay will some of the mobile big men from St John's. I thought he did a decent job on defense and clearly looks more comfortable on that end, but he needs to be able to make the basic plays on the offensive end. Catch the ball and go up and dunk it quickly. And no more airballs/bank shots on free throws. I think he has some physical abilities that could translate well, but he still has a long ways to go before he will be ready for meaningful playing time in conference games

And please, get healthy soon Kobe Clark. Two completely different positions...Q will be a rim runner/rim defender. Think Thomas Bryant or Clint Capela. Mamau needed to develop more because he has to be a stretch 4....

Seton Hall also attacks the offensive glass really aggressively, like St John's did. The Hoyas need to be much more physical boxing out and going after defensive rebounds. Everyone needs to rebound with a purpose or they will get killed on the glass. It looks like the Hoyas have 2 -3 guys who work hard on the glass but others are standing and watching and hoping to get a quick outlet pass. Need a complete team effort on the glass.
