Actually there are two maps linked off of the tickets web page - there is a different one for the Hoop Club than there is for individual tickets - I have no idea what this means.

Yeah this should be fixed becase it seems to say that you can buy individual tickets in the student sections.

This split arrangement sucks. There's no way to candy coat it - the 4 sections should be side-by-side (along with the young alums) SOMEWHERE along the lower bowl... preferably where the standard mid-court camera could see them going nuts.

This arrangement is better than last year's, by far. We need the students in other parts of the arena to liven it up and force other fans to get up and be loud as well. People in most of the arena lose sight of the fact that it's college ball- not pros- and standing and being loud is part of the deal.

Very true, YB, I just worry that it might dillute the noise level of the student section to split them all up. But it is definitely something that HB has anticipated and is ready to work with.

hoya blue and most students wanted two sections across... and the answer.. other than allen iverson ..is for the students to DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF SEASON TIX HOLDERS.. AND THAT WILL DOUBLE THE NOISE ...RATHER THAN DILUTIING IT OK.. GO HOYAS ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

In the early-ish years of MCI... as early as 98-99 and probably before too... the student section was behind both baskets. It worked really well - the chearleaders split up, so there was significant cross-court chearing as with the BU game.
Also, opening both end of the court to students, as opposed to having one dominated by lame-o reporters, is a HUGE improvement.

My first two years at GU it was three of the four behind-the-basket sections (the fourth was for the band). Our Sweet Sixteen year with Sweets they made it ONE section behind one of the basket, one for the band, one for general public and "VIPs" and the fourth for press as the season went on. Hasn't been the same since. I agree, the four total is better than just two, but they'll never get it right until they have four sections spread the length of the court, visible on tv.
Economic impact be damned.

Economic impact be damned. Nice sentiment, but I get the feeling the basketball program runs a bit more paycheck to paycheck to do this. Maybe if our booster org could get more than $700,000 a year or so, we could consider it. But the dropoff in ticket prices or interest, I'm suspecting, could be cutting the budget drastically. Most programs that put kids center court probably don't have ticket revenue as a main driver of program funding. But I'm just guessing.

Agreed - the other schools that do it are Duke (sells out every home game, excellent booster support), Kansas (see Duke, and its a state school), Oklahoma State (see Kansas), and Michigain (see Kansas). I'm definitely leaving schools out of this list but the point is they all have lots of cash coming into their programs and many of them are also supported by your tax dollars.
