Looks like Wilson is getting some love from the local press re: his summer league play for the Bobcats: Q. Any sleepers? A. Center-forward Wesley Wilson, who played for Georgetown, is intriguing because he's such an aggressive rebounder at both ends. There was a time in the NBA when every team had a specialist such as Wilson. The Bobcats need rebounding in the worst way, so he will get a look. www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/12127989.htm

This just goes to show how badly we missed Wes during his senior year. That's not a shot at Wes-- I know he had a death in the family and some personal issues-- it happens. But it really hurt to lose Wes during BE play.

Yep. If anyone remembers Wes during the Sweet Sixteen year, they can see him in the NBA. He was aggressive (maybe too much so) and people were calling for him to start over Ruben.

I was one of 'em, SF. I can remember sitting there at MCI game in and game out and thinking "if RBB ain't gonna give us a whole lot offensively, PLEASE put in Wes." He was a great rebounder when he wanted to be - and gave us just about as much on the defensive side as RBB (except for those handful of games where RBB looked like the next Ewing on the defensive end).

How about Wes against ND in the 4-OT game? Damn, I was so excited. I thought there wasn't a better front court than Sweets and Wes. And then it all fell down. Personal problems. Esherick's refusal to give him any leash. And certainly some of it is on Wes, because it all obvously affected his game.
Charlotte is a great situation for him, and he could absolutely offer something to a team, if he's really working hard. Hey, the Knicks just signed Jerome Freakin' James to a 5 year deal for 30 million, so I know Wes is worth at least half that.

I can see Wes coming in for Okafor to spell him, provide some defensive intensity, grab some boards.
Who was it on the board that saw Wes playing overseas recently? Any news on how he looks physically? Bulked up at all?

In retrospect I wish Wes was able to sit out his senior season. Mike was doing almost all the work that season when Wes was still around. And then three to four games into the EE season Wes was gone for good. If Wesley had sat out that season and played the following year perhaps he could have regained the form he showed during his junior year. Certainly the Hoyas could have used him because that was the disastrous season in which CFree started as the center and Esh got fired. Ooops. On second thought...

Boumtje Boumtje played yesterday for Orlando against Washington in the summer league. Reuben appears to have started but played only 11 minutes, drawing four fouls. Was 1 for 4 from the field, had 5 rebounds and one blocked shot. Not impressive.
Andre Blatche played for Washington, 28 minutes, had 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 turnovers and one blocked shot.

In the two previous games BB did not miss a shot, going something like 6-6 from the field, maybe 2-2 from the line.
