Honestly, he’s the one guy I want back most. BEast ready power forwards do not grow on trees and his work this year laid the ground for some nasty next year.

Agreed. This is a kid that should play a key role for us next year.

I hope he stays - He had the highest basketball IQ in last year’s group. I would always hear him redirecting players on offense if they were out of position or not moving. Looks like the prototypical “glue guy” that good teams tend to have.

I like Collin and he has some crafty moves but I can't see us being successful if he is our starting 4 unless he suddenly can rebound and play defense. Maybe play him as the 3 if Aminu is gone but he will get exposed on the defensive end. I do see a role for him though especially if he can improve on his 35% from 3 last year.

Yep - in agreement with most here. I don't see him as a starter, but he'll have a role. His awkward but efficient, old man at the Y offensive game is pretty unique and he can slot in when needed at the 3 or the 4. But I don't want to have to rely on his defense at either spot.
The kind of player who could get 8 minutes one night and 28 the next, depending on the pace of the game.

Given last year was Holloway’s freshman from a playing perspective, I’m not sure why people aren’t ecstatic about what they saw. He just needs to be paired with an athletic center and SF who can cover up his rebounding deficiencies and he’s fine. Kid is a stud.

I see him more on a good team as a sub who can score on interior but can space the floor with his outside shooting. I hope he is a bench player playing 22 mins a game on a good team.

He is strong enough already, and he has a knack for making functional, if not flashy, plays. He needs to live on the track and jumping cones, etc. If he can get a little quicker and more skilled, look out.

If he can gain enough quickness to guard 3's, he can be a 6th man extraordinaire, subbing in for both the 3 and the 4. As has been said, he has enough IQ that he understands what to do, but is still developing his physique and technique so as to do it against BE caliber opponents..

What I worry about is if Collin loses weight to gain quickness will he still be strong enough to play the 4...it could become a situation where he still isn't quick enough to guard 3s but is now nowhere near strong enough to guard 4s...I personally would rather see Collin hit the weights and bulk up to play the 4 and leave wings for Aminu(maybe), Wayne, Jordan and D'Ante...

I am not saying slim down, but he does not need to bulk up further. He does need to increase his quickness as much as possible.

He just needs to be paired with an athletic center and SF who can cover up his rebounding deficiencies and he’s fine. Kid is a stud. "Stud" seems a little generous. I do like him as a player though. He has a little bit of the same thing that surrounded Jon Wallace his first couple seasons (obviously at a different position), where people's perception of him is still colored by the fact that he went to high school in the south, had basically no hype as a recruit, and is an underwhelming athlete for his height. When that's your profile coming in, a lot of people just assume you're mediocre and it takes a lot to change that. If a player had the exact same stats and production as Holloway over his first two years but came from a WCAC school and looked lanky and bouncy in a youtube clip, everyone would be expecting him to break out as a junior. But the reality is many lanky athletic types never amount to much, while guys like Collin often have more game and can be better overall college players. Other than hopefully Aminu, he's probably the returning player I feel best about. He's just got a nice feel for the game. I disagree with the idea that he should be working on his 3 cone drill and whatnot this offseason though, trying to make himself into a 3 (wing). He's a couple inches short, but he's plenty broad enough to be a 4 at the Big East level. And he stands a much better chance of being able to defend guys who are a little taller at the 4 spot than he ever does at getting his quickness to the point where he can defend BE wings. In general I'd rather our team be a little shorter but more skilled for their positions (ie. pushing a guy down a position, like making 3s into 4s or 4s into 5s) rather than taller but slower and less skilled for their positions (ie. pushing guys up a position, like making 4s into 3s or 5s into 4s). It's the general direction the game is going in too.

He developed from a player who was a borderline Big East player/athlete into a guy who played significant and effective minutes this year, albeit on a bad Big East team. I see him an important complimentary player for a good team in the conference moving forward. The problem this year, was the entire team was complimentary players or worse (with the exception of Aminu, who showed flashes of a big time player but still played like a freshman often) If he was surrounded by better and more athletic players, he could play to his strengths and not try to do more than he is capable of and be a good piece on a competitive team.

On an informed and well-constructed roster, Holloway ideally would be your 7th to 8th man off the bench - which likely would enable him to be more effective (facing an opposing caliber similar or less skilled than him).

That is a shame. I liked him and thought he would be a good player off the bench but didn't see him as a starting 4. Shifty for sure and will be interesting to see who gives him some looks but I would guess it will be a step down.
