Needed a break working from home, got thinking about the things our guys need to work on and improve - which led me to wonder about working out in these times of stay-home orders and social distancing. Up here in upstate New York pretty much all college and high school facilities are closed up, and many public courts and playgrounds are closed to the public. Are players who might be in the DC area able to work out at Georgetown, on the courts or in the weight rooms if they social distance? What about current players or incoming recruits from outside the area? Are they limited to their driveway hoops? And dribbling practice? Does the staff get them agility or strength work they can do in the yard, in the basement, in the street?

Instead, they have been having individual Zoom meetings with each player, designed individual at home strength and cardio programs, and team content meetings twice a week to stay connected. Don't know if basketball team has access to IAC for training but apparently soccer team does not. It would seem too me that social distancing with basketball might be easier to accomplish in use of IAC but aren't the dorms closed and have players gone home?

There is no doubt that Coach Wiese and his staff are among the very best in the business. It should come as no surprise that they have adapted with a forward thinking approach to keeping the boys in training and in contact. The best part of Coach’s email was his stated intention to make Georgetown a perennial soccer power for the long haul.

Skills training can work for soccer as long as you have a yard or can find a field. Just wondering about basketball skills, particularly shooting, if you don't have a home hoop and playground courts are closed.

Coach Ewing mentioned the use of the zoom app to keep the team connected in a recent interview but he didn’t go into detail the way the soccer coach apparently has... It’d be great if he did though...

I know that Pickett has posted some videos of him taking some shots in the IAC over the last week or two. He probably lives off campus and still has access to the court, but I would think that the weight room is probably locked up. It probably just depends on what players have access to whenever they are during this. I would hope that the coaches are at least going over film with the players remotely.

Pickett, Blair and Mac should be practicing their dribbling and for that you just need a basketball and don’t have to go out. Just drive your parents crazy. This lockdown could do wonders for Pickett.

They can’t go over film with them it would be a violation I meant more from a standpoint of remote skill instruction (for instance, looking at film of Jamorko Pickett with Jamorko Pickett so that Jamorko Pickett can work on specific skills), since I thought that skill instruction was allowed during the in-school off-season. But if that's still a violation, I'll take your word for it.
