Unsure of new NIT rules - with a losing record (but good strength of schedule) - is this even possible for us to get an invitation? Any insight is welcome.

Pretty sure we'd have to win two this week to be considered.

Wikipedia says that the requirement for a winning record for NIT eligibility was eliminated.

I'd rather pass on going with a losing record, if that's the case.

I don't know. We'd enter the tournament as Cinderella with a "compelling" backstory and a chance to move our one-loss record into positive territory. Considering how taxing it is to play all 40 minutes of a game, however, I'd consult the players prior to accepting a bid if I were the coach.

They do not quit - a quality to be applauded.

Well it's what the fans want that matters?

I can dig up my old posts on this, but the bottom line is the at large NIT bids are essentially the next teams out of the NCAA tournament, and I don’t think we would qualify without at least 2 more wins (that’s one way where the Villanova win could have helped a lot).
When the NIT was independent the criteria were way more favorable to high majors that didn’t make the NCAA because they wanted ticket sales, etc., but those factors are irrelevant now.

Two wins most likely, one win most likely not.

4 wins and we won't have to worry about it!
