I knew it was a bad sign when the only guys warming up were Green, Ewing, Wallace and two of the guys I didn't recognize the day before. We started the game with 5, but eventually the big guy I don't know and some fat old guard showed up. Freshman were all MIA.
Tombs won, 56-55, but were trailing for most of the game, by double digits at one point. The other team went on a huge scoring draught in the 2nd half allowing Tombs to catch up. They had chances to win at the end, but good D by Green on one shot and a huge block by Ewing stopped that. Ending was controversial, as one ref seemed to call a foul but the others said time ran out.
Green - 19ish points, tons of boards, some steals, blocks. Problem was he was about 1-7 from 3, and played outside WAY too much. Still easily the best player on the court.
Ewing - ugh. AWFUL game. Maybe 1-10 from 3, and couldn't have shot better than 20% overall. Was frequently out of control, leading to lots of TOs. Didn't hit the boards that well either.
Wallace - a little off from 3, but had some nice drives - he should be more agressive.
And that's it. By far the worst Tombs game I have seen, largely due to the lack of the freshman.

I agree it was arguably the worst game ever. But my notes I took may counter a few of your points.
Green was 5 of 7 for two point field goals. 1 of 6 from the three point line (missing his last four). And 6 of 10 from the charity stripe. Giving him 19 points as you wrote. He probably took too many threes and he's getting too low on his drop step when he posts up, which makes him ineffective on that front. But, yes, he was easily the best player on the floor today.
Ewing went 4 of 8 from inside the three point line and 1 of 7 from beyond the line. He made one of two free throws for a total of 12 points. Once again he struggled with his shot. But I have to disagree with the assertion that he was out of control and turned over the ball a lot. I didn't see that at all except for two times in the first half in which he charged while trying to be aggressive by attacking the basket. And all of his threes, except for one near the end of the game, were good looks. He was open and he was supposed tro take those shots. He had probably the two plays that excited the fans the most: an alley oop feed off the break from Wallace that he threw down and a game saving shot block after hus inbound pass was picked off.
Wallace was 3 of 5 for two point shots and one of five from three point land. That's a total of 9 points. The good news is that most of his buckets came late in the game when the team needed them in the biggest way. The bad news he turned over the rock at some of the worst times and had problems on the defensive end.
But I'm gonna give everyone a break considering the tough game they were involved in yesterday and the fact that the frosh were nowhere to be found. What the heck was that all about? Is there some new rule that stipulates freshmen players can't play two straight games in the KL or something? Geez.

Yeah that game was pretty hard to watch.
It was basically Jon, Jeff and Pat Jr. doing whatever the heck pleased them for 40 minutes....
Ewing played like Ray Reed, only a foot taller and longer. Ack'tacular in all senses.
Anyone know who those rando guys were? #5 was decent.

That would be tough - it starts in late August.

Well, there did appear to be a bunch of newbies being escorted all around campus and around the surrounding areas. Something was going on.

The freshman just checked into a program for incoming GU freshman last night after the game, so my guess is that today they were at something for the program. That would be the likely explanation for all of them missing the game, as they all are in the same program.
