I think the real question in the poll is 1 or 2 but i threw some other interesting options in there just to see what you all would say.

I voted for less than 20 wins...but by that I mean BEFORE the BE tourney. Otherwise, we'll hit 20.

Like i sed I think we go 20-7 this season going into the BET and we get to the semifinals or champ game. Unbelievable how 2 years ago, we were the last team getting in the BET, now we are one of the favorites in the BE.

Not one prediction that I have read has the Hoyas in the top four. I think the team will go 9-7 in the BE or better, but it's hard to say. The BE is brutal, as is our OOC schedule. Even a bubble bid and first-round NCAA loss would be a very solid accomplishment for this team.

Our non-conference schedule is BIG this year…
I think we can definitely win against each of those teams, but realistically we probably won’t beat all 4 of them…
If we beat Duke and another one of the Big schools (Oregon, Michigan, Illinois), then we should be lookin’ pretty solid…
But if we lose to Duke, I think we need to beat the other 3…
4-0 would be great 3-1 would be ideal 2-2 is definitely acceptable…
*I think OU or OSU may be looming in the wings…would be nice to beat them also…

We are approachin this Duke game as nothing really and this Duke team is one of the best teams in the past 10 years in the NCAA. They got the starting 5, they got the bench, and they got the coaching. This team is as solid as they come. They will be the #1 team in the nation throughout the entire season, sorry to tell you all. Thats why if we can hang in the game for the first half and we come up with the win, it will be all in the papers. A win over Duke puts us back into the media spotlight. Whenever an OOC team can beat Duke, its all over the place, and the media wants us back in I think, they just need proof that we are for real. If we get this win, then we are back officially. Even a good showing against Duke could get some people roused up. If we are solid @michigan, @illini, @oregon, UTEP, Duke, and Oklahoma possibly, then the media will be back. And with the media, I think the top recruits see we are back and they might want to join in on the cause. But I think a win over Duke would be the biggest win for Gtown since the sweet 16 appearance a few years ago.

Duke is a win-win for us. We are going to compete. We are not going to get blown out. And if we win, it'll be an announcement to the college basketball media.
Duke is going to be very good. But I think we matchup well. Why?
1) They don't have a killer PG. We cannot defend super quick guys like Hill or M. Williams. Duke really doesn't have a small, blazing PG.
2) We're used to defending Redick -- in McNamara -- and have done a good job.
3) Shewill has no outside game, so Hibbert shouldn't be such a mismatch.
4) Either Jeff or Brandon can cover McRoberts -- most teams won't have a guy who can matchup at all.
5) Duke still doesn't have all that much depth.
----------
In a related note, since I'm sure Calhoun will get Williams off, we're likely to face FOUR Top 10 teams this year -- Duke, Oklahoma, UConn, Nova, plus WVU if they are for real and any other Big East surprise.

Unless Duke can manage to sneak a 6th player on the court, I think we match-up pretty well against these guys…
I expect us to throw Brandon, Octavius and DJ at JJ Redick…gotta keep him at no more than 23 pts…
We have to limit their second chances…gotta put a body on Sheldon Williams…
If we can rebound well, we should be in pretty good shape down the stretch…
Luckily, Shavlik went pro…:-)

LOL. Yeah we do matchup pretty well with Duke. And like I have said, we have stopped JJ in the past. One thing we dont talk about it DJ's defense. Him and BB stopped JJ 2/3 years ago and he never really went lights out on us. I think BB can give Duke alot of problems. But, Duke does have one fast kid in Paulus, but I think Wallace can use his speed to stay up with him. Duke is deep at the 1,2,3 and so are we so I think the game will be won between the 4's and 5's.

Here's the way I approach the Duke game.
1) We are not playing at Cameron - that is an advantage for us because we are not playing in an overwhelmingly tough place to play a game.
2) The reason that teams loose to Duke is because they are out-classed by Duke's coaching and depth - I think that we have mitigated those advantages with this year's depth and JTIII's coaching staff.
3) We've seen this before - this is Brandon, AC, and Owens 3rd game against Duke - they know what to expect they know exactly who they will be guarding and what they need to do - there are no unknown assignments here.
4) The real question that this game hinges on is how do you guard Williams - Reddick will get his points and I think we can do a fairly effective job against their guards in general - however the reason that we've lost games against Duke is lack of depth and the fact that Williams pounds us in the paint. I think we have to go big to combat Williams and that means really seeing how improved Hibbs is.
