DePaul up 53 - 30 at Iowa at half. Good start for the Big East.

This would be a great win for DePaul. Close the deal.

DePaul up 24 with 6:30 left, they are very athletic, they defend and they're pretty skilled...
Paul Reed & Moore will be a tough 1-2 punch...

Watching most of this Depaul-Iowa game is giving me flashbacks of the 30 pt shellacking they laid on us last season. This DePaul team tonight is playing like we are hoping to play; they are long, athletic, and pushing the pace. This team tonight doesn’t look like the last place team in any league.

This DePaul team will be in the mix for an NCAA tournament spot. They are deep, loaded in the backcourt, got an NBA fist round pick in Reed.
Imo Creighton is the last place team this year and Creighton's a good team. Just really small and thin in the front court with Epperson injury.
I also think Xavier's not as good as their current ranking. I think they are going to struggle this year as a bubblicious squad. They have injuries but more important they can't shoot outside of Scruggs. Need freshmen guard Kyky Tandy to knock down shots at a really good clip.
Need to see what Smits look like for Butler before getting a feel for them.
I think this DePaul team could finish anywhere between 3-8 but definitely won't be the last place team in the conference this year unless they suffer injuries.
This is easily the most talented teams the New BIG EAST had had. Conference play is going to be a dog fight. Twelve wins may win the conference with a bunch of teams grouped right behind. All 10 teams should finish with a winning record & play in the post season for a second year in a row.

Very impressive road win for Depaul last night. Makes the Hoya game against Penn. St. more informative. Iowa was picked to finish slightly above Penn St. (8th v. 10th) in the Big Ten this year. Have never bought in to the preseason predictions for Depaul as you could tell last year that they were improving. Speed and length--sound familiar. Last night at least they added outside shooting from their guards and Reed is a beast inside and very quick.

Big East should go 6-2 over the Big Ten. It wouldn't shock me if Creighton, Butler and Xavier all won today.

It's going to be very difficult for us to improve on our 2018-19 9-9 conference record this year. I think 10-8 would be a very strong result. 9-9, even, could be viewed as an improvement upon last year if you factor in the strength of conference, and possibly result in a tourney invitation depending on the OOC results.
Of course, this also means that finishing below 9-9 is a possibility, despite all of our early season, positive, good vibe outlooks (mine included).

But I agree with your overall point that the BIG EAST can really send a statement to the college basketball nation by dominating these Gavitt Games vs Big 10.

Creighton and Butler, I think both win today. Creighton are underdogs, though the perimeter game that team has should push them over Michigan. Zavier Simpson only can guard one of the big three and the other two will be open. If they can keep that game fast-paced, they should be able to beat this Michigan team. And Butler should beat a weak Minnesota team.

Once they're back, I like the team a lot, they'll be very small but really tough to guard...

What a difference between watching Xavier run their offense & Creighton run theirs...
Xavier's offense is tough on the eyes but they get after it defensively...

Tough loss for Creighton, they got worn down...
Solid win for Xavier but I agree with Hoya4ever who said they're overrated a bit right now...

Very good win for Butler over Minnesota...
All in all, a very good showing tonight for the BE overall...
Stating the obvious here but the conference looks very tough from top to bottom...

Hoyas have an improved roster, but the BE is so solid...not sure how things will shake out. Finishing in the middle seems good.

Nova playing very Hoyas like perimeter D so far. Needless to say it's not working for them.

OSU shooting % will regress to the mean. Plenty of time left but I can't really bring myself to root for Nova.
