Govan took a lot of blame for being the poster child as the defensive drag as our senior leader. This should be James, Mac, and Josh’s team now and yet the defensive malaise continues. On paper a team of fiery guys like Jagan, James, Josh, Mac, Allen, Galen, and the physical tools of Pickett and Yurt would make you think we’d be a much better defensive team. Something is missing in terms of playing as a cohesive unit. All the fiery talk goes out the window if you can’t be in sync as a team, tome they play D like they play offense pretty much individually... When we hired Pat I would have thought we’d be a “defense first” team and offense would be a work in progress. Now in year 3, with roster full of his recruits, and we’ve shown little growth there. I know it’s only the second game, but unlike shooting, which can be streaky, defensive scheme and cohesion is either there or not. Right now it’s not going to be good enough IMO for a schedule and conference that is much tougher than last year’s slate. Counting on cold shooting nights by other teams is not a recipe for sustainable success.

I would like to see a lineup of Akinjo, Mosely, Picket, LeBlanc and Yurt (as of now this should be the starting lineup). That could be interesting. Mac could add scoring punch to the 2nd unit. Maybe an over-reaction to a bad day though.

Plus as you mentioned Mac can bringing a scoring boost off the bench.

We will win this game, easily. Still, the inability to put the game away is disappointing.

Maybe a way to get the ball more in Mac hands too so he doesn’t battle Akinjo for possession. Worth considering further IMHO.

Maybe an over-reaction to a bad day though. I would really like to see McClung playing in that role. As a distributor he would still get his shots but he seems more suited to having the ball. Now it seems when he is paired with Akinjo he seldom thinks pass first.

13/16 from the FT line is a nice job.

13/16 from the FT line is a nice job. We hit 81% in the last game. This could be really, really important over the long-term for our success.

Is this Year 5 of our same commercial?! Hope it's not the one with Greg Monroe in it.

Did I see Jagan finally miss a 3 a few minutes back or was that someone else? The ESPN box score doesn’t have it listed.

Wahab getting a lot of burn today. Of all the newcomers he seems to have earned Ewing’s trust more than some of older transfers even.

I love how we're going for the offensive rebounds from missed 3s.
