Everyone keeps talking about how it could've been a blowout if coach wasn't getting guys more time. Did those guys not see the starters in the 1st half or the beginning of the 2nd half? James and Mac weren't very good today and that is why they didn't play a lot. It wasn't coach trying to build the team. It was coach trying to win.

No obviously it’s a game we can win. Vegas I’m sure will peg it anywhere from +/- 2. I’m just saying given what I’ve seen so far, I would think Penn State would beat us if all remains the same on our side. We need to make some big strides to win in my opinion, as we can’t beat them on talent and depth alone as we have these first two games. This team can obviously beat Penn State. This team looks a lot like the previous years where we are going to win some nobody thinks we can win and lose some nobody thought we could lose. I think the improved schedule should be good enough to get us to the tourney but I am not seeing a lot of progression from year to year so far. That is all a consequence of being a streaky O team and a team that relies on the other team to miss open 3's on the other end. If we didn't lose on Wednesday I don't think we will lose any games that aren't expected...unless you count a home conference game...I just don't see any easy outs in the BE...even StJs is playing well..

Speaking of player development, remind me, what’s the consensus on playing Wilson / Timothy? I wish we could but we are already playing 11 players. Today 10 players played 10+ and an eleventh played 7 minutes. [Myron was that 11th and his per 40 today would be (18 rebounds and 24 points)]

Have to remember that Mac and James have only played 1 season and 2 games of college basketball. It’s still way early.

Attendance: 5,785. The pre-2013 fan base hasn't returned.

Some cause for concern. Mac and Akinjo did not have good games today. Yurt was impressive. Great moves and touch for a big man. However, we need a couple of guys to keep the other teams honest. I particularly don’t like how we are defending the threes. Regarding defending the perimeter, the guys have to talk to one another on the floor. They have to keep the communication constant. Man, I do hope that we can put it all together soon. You can see the potential of this team, but it is frustrating.

I wasn’t able to either see or listen to the game, so I have a question: Mac’s 1-10 shooting looks nasty; was he forcing his shots like he did periodically last year, or was it just a bad shooting day?

Yes and yes. His worst play was a play in second half when he took the ball into the lane, faked a pass to a wide open Mosley on the wing and then turned the ball over in traffic. Shorty afterwards he did have a nice dish to LeBlanc on a similar drive. Both he and Akinjo had multiple turnovers by forcing drives into traffic and getting too deep without any options. #12 is our best PG for facilitating ball movement in half court right now.

Now he is good enough to get minutes in these games as we might need him at some point (injury, fouls). I would not expect to see him much against better competition.

I likely just missed him, but was Ighoefe dressed? I didn't see him warming up at halftime.

Blair should be on the 4th unit There is always at least one post a game that is absolutely ridiculous. This one runs away with it.

Bright spots: I thought Jagan and Pickett played great. Both look to me like significantly improved players this year. Rebounding in general was really good, I thought. (Yurt was obviously a bright spot, too, but I have something in particular to say about that in a minute.)
Dark spot: 3 point defense. Atrocious. Flashing the big out to the perimeter is NOT working.
Curious: Yurtseven was absolutely dominant, so why the heck did he play only 19 minutes? I get that the other new guys benefit from PT, but to my mind it is more important to give our best players more time playing together, especially since Yurt is our most important new player. If I'm coach both James and Yurt are getting 30+ minutes per game. If we were an already established good team I might feel differently this early in the season.
Patrick's substitutions seem almost random to me.
Curious for a different reason: Does anyone know why #55 for CA didn't play in the second half? He had been their leading scorer. I was at the game, so if anything was said on TV I missed it.
