Did not understand why Trey did not get more reps. One of my favorites bench players with a good attitude.

Let’s see what Spears does. His numbers are similar to Dante’s. I don’t see him coming here if he doesn’t see minutes and we don’t really need both of them on the court together. He’s sort of a “tell” on how another PG who got regular minutes sees the situation.

It doesn’t have to actually be true for people to believe it and for it to be used as strategy to negatively recruit players away from your program. And in the age of internet and social media, a prospect doesn’t have to look that hard to see that the majority of Hoya fandom wanted Harris to sit and let someone else take his minutes. Then look at tweets and things posted by the Beards, by Harmon, by Riley’s family, etc. Add that to previous situations where players have been benched seemingly for being in the doghouse with Ewing and it’s not hard to paint the picture that unless it’s been made explicitly clear that they see you as the Day 1 starter, if you have to compete for the job, he’s gonna have an advantage over you at that spot and in the few opportunities you do get, it’s not gonna take a lot to get you pulled from the game. When adding other pieces to the roster, lots of players also don’t want to play with a ball dominant pg who they don’t see as the most skilled. If a recruit or transfer is worried about not being able to supplant Dante, we're not targeting the right folks. That might very well be true, but we’re targeting a lot of guys and none of them want to come. It’s not about whether they think they can or not, it’s more about whether they’ll be given the opportunity in game situations.

Spears is almost a comp.

You all should check out the recruitment thread about Spears. From what I read there, we really don't want a player like Spears. I want to trust the caches who are most involved in recruiting to have a solid sense of how the pieces will fit together. Another PG who creates for himself and has few assists -- no! Any PG coming here needs to be a (developing) floor general who can create and pass. He needs to see the floor well and should be good at finding players with open shots.
I look at all the offers we have out there for players in the portal and I get worried that we'll be overloaded at certain positions and players will leave and we'll have weaknesses in positions where we're thin.
What do you all see?

What do you all see? At this point, I would be fine with Terrell Allen 2022 wherever he may be. As others have noted, the issue with Spears is whether his pretty extraordinary usage was a product of a bad team. Of course, that's kinda the question with Dante as well.

It sounds like Dante is still a Hoya. He said I never run from the smoke. Whatever that means I guess he’s not entering transfer portal.

Honestly surprised Dante is still on board at this point. We’ll see what happens.

I'll take Dante's grit and competitiveness over the pettiness of some on this board, 8 days a week. Having the guy from Duquesne as an upgrade to Beard in a 2 point guard roster seems to be an improvement.

I know that there are varying opinions on Dante’s level of play, but I think he deserves a lot of credit for sticking around, especially with the arrival of Primo Spears. That indicates someone who is confident in his ability and is willing to take on a challenge. It may also show that he’s one of the rare players who is realistic about life after school and who values a Georgetown degree. Rooting for him.

Agree with this and would add that I am also rooting for Ryan, Riley and Wilson as well. I completely support college free agency for basketball and football athletes (though some more tweaks are clearly needed) but that does not mean I do not appreciate loyalty. I hope that those players who chose to stay have very long and successful careers on the Hilltop and that their decision to remain is warranted by the team's success.
