apple.news/A6CWycd5kQk6lE8WYMIs8tgSixers name Hibbert to player development role The 76ers have added former All-Star shot-blocker Roy Hibbert as a player development specialist. The Philadelphia 76ers have hired former NBA center Roy Hibbert as player development specialist, the team announced Wednesday. Hibbert, 32, played in the league for nine seasons and was a two-time All-Star with the Indiana Pacers. The 7-foot-2 Hibbert finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2013-14, when the Pacers went to their second of back-to-back Eastern Conference finals. Hibbert finished his career with a season with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015-16, followed by stints with Charlotte and Denver the following season. Hibbert is expected to be working with big men Joel Embiid, who is entering his fourth season, and Al Horford, who joined the team as a free agent in the offseason. In other moves, the 76ers also promoted former NBA center Ruben Boumtje Boumtje to assistant general manager of G League Delaware, promoted Remy Ndiaye to player development specialist and added Lorena Torres as performance director.

Congratulations, Hoyas! Player development, from an outsider, seems like a perfect fit for Roy. I wish him much success in his new role.

An RBB siting. Paging MCI! I was already aware of both of them being part of the Sixers organization. I had assumed it had been discussed in the NBA thread. It was cool to hear of their employment, especially RBB.

Odd to think of Roy coaching Al Horford, who's the exact same age.
