Alexander will get the nod. Kid’s got a man’s frame and is a dog. Gardner will get run, but I don’t think he starts as a freshman. Pickett is a bit of a wildcard. If he’s not stroking it consistently, he’s not going to play a lot. He’s not getting big minutes as a defensive stopper. 😉 When last season we were among the highest scoring teams in the conference but had perhaps the worst defense, improving our defense is clearly a big priority. Thus, I don’t agree that defense will not be an important consideration for who plays. I know that Pickett played excellent defense at times last year even when he struggled on offense. I don’t have a good read on Galen or Myron’s defensive abilities yet.

I love this kid's "alpha dog" attitude....if Galen has that. We won't have any issues on D...

I love this kid's "alpha dog" attitude....if Galen has that. We won't have any issues on D... I think it is more complicated than that. Certainly attitude plays a role, but at times last year it seemed there were people who thought Akinjo was playing good defense because he was grimacing. To me, defense is more about discipline ....of being in a ready position....positioned in the proper place....ready to react to the situation..with sufficient fitness to outwork the opponent to places on the floor. An attitude helps, but an attitude without the discipline is almost counter-productive.

When Akinjo threw this, Gardner was still behind the 3 point line... Wow

From that video, it looks to me like Josh is significantly thicker in the arms and shoulders. If he fills out and keeps his bounce and motor, there is no stopping him in Big East play.

Are we just going to ignore Gardner dropping 31 in the victory? Interested in seeing the recaps on how he got most of the buckets and what the rest of the stat line looked like.

This is a nice drive for Alexander but it's the kind of play that works in Kenner but not regular season ball. You're not going to see many players drive from the half court mark all the way to the rim virtually unimpeded...
That being said like what I've seen from him on his drives, and he has the size and athleticism to be able to finish when confronted by size in the paint.
