Going to be a sleepless night. I can tell you that at least three hoyas will test the waters and I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost two of them. Plus we lose another starter in Mosely. If I were a betting man....Sibley would start from day 1. Ewing would get this kid into the league before no time. B&G don't make statements like ^this^ on this board....the thought of one or more of our guards/wings testing the waters is crazy talk to the masses......

Have to believe that the coaches are well aware of who is coming back and who might leave. Also, unless and until Williams signs there is currently an open scholarship even if no one leaves.

Can't blame any player with aspirations of playing in the NBA for testing the waters. There is really no downside for them now, because they can get evaluated and then return to college if the scouts tell they they are not likely to be drafted. I would not be surprised to see a few of the current underclassmen (in addition to Yurt) go through the process, although I don't envision that they will hear from the NBA people that they will be drafted in 2020 and they will likely return next year. I don't know any of their personal/financial situations of our players so there could be reasons for a player to leave early and start earning money for playing basketball, and in that case in wish them luck and I hope it turns out well for them. Other than Yurt, I am not sure I see the other players on our team earning any PT in the NBA next year.

I happened to see the Wizards G League team playing and saw so many former college hot shots playing. I can't believe they thought this is where they would be when they left college early. All the same they are being paid to play ball.
We shall see what happens.
I hope Jamari joins us today!

No one is going to leave except MAYBE Yurt7. He's a graduating senior, so it technically wouldn't be leaving. But today's students are too quick to pull the transfer ripcord when they would be better suited staying put, even without basketball. I've never quite understood the thinking that playing an additional two years at Directional State University is a better long-term play than getting a Georgetown degree.

I'm not against kids leaving early, even if they aren't completely ready. As long as they have a likely chance of getting drafted then by all means go. Two years ago at this time I was hoping that Pickett would have made the expected development and be in the NBA after his soph season, not still lingering on the team for his junior year. I just wanted to make that clear. That said...I can't think of three kids who are realistically ready to make this leap, just so long as you are not including Yurtseven who is a senior and we already know is gone. Right now all I can possibly see is Akinjo based on his play at this point and even he has been less impressive than I hoped. But the other possible two? Pickett? Not yet. I really hope he has a fantastic enough season to have a legit chance at being drafted. I feel this way for three reasons: 1)It would mean a very good year for the Hoyas, 2)it will be a great story for the DC kid to make it to The League after playing for the home team in college and 3)it would open minutes for other wings and forwards. Pickett still needs to demonstrate aggression, consistency, the ability to take two dribbles without getting himself in trouble and the skill to make the pass without turning it over. These things are all possible this season and if he accomplished them then by all means he should make the jump. McClung? No, he's not there at this point either. Leblanc? Liking what I've seen of him the past three games but he still needs a leap in skills himself. He's behind Pickett on almost all of those areas. Again if a couple of these dudes really improve during the season then I can understand the talk of testing the waters and moving on. But how about performance on the court before making such thoughts known to the point it can be passed along as even gossip.

Of course testing the waters is also a way to get detailed NBA feedback as to what aspects of your game need the most work, what teams need to see next season in order to put you on their draft board, etc.

Just watched the video from a couple of pages back. I like his length and athleticism. He seems to move well. Hope he joins the program today!

If Jamari signs with us, it will be great for him to understudy Josh, Jamorko, and Galen next year at the 3/4...

You value a GU degree far, far more than most student/athletes do. To many of them, a long-term play is an alley-oop pass from backcourt for a slam dunk.

Luckily for us not all of them think that way.

If only some of these men could heed the examples of those who didn't judge the value of college by PT and saw a life beyond basketball, from Ron Blaylock to Omari Faulkner and everyone in between. Instead, Grayson Carter will be playing before 1,750 at the College Park Center en route to a degree from UTA.

This is shaping up to be a pretty smart class if this kid comes. A guard who gets a year or two to learn while filling in. Two forwards who have distinct skills that can get minutes right away but also back fill strongly in year two once Jamorko & possibly Josh move on. You have a young center with two others developing behind him currently. We have a combo forward/guard in Gardner who I see being a killer for us next year and beyond.
I know we have missed on the Stewart's, Cockburns, Bakers, Jones bigs as well as on RJ Davis but I really like how coach is back-filling with kids who fit his mold. I think in college, this is how you win. Eventually we will sprinkle in a higher touted recruit or two but frankly look at Shaka Smart. That doesn't always work out for you if the Turner, Allen type big moves on before they really contribute much to your program. I have also had this debate with Duke, Kansas & Kentucky fans. I would rather cheer for kids who are actually on campus for more than a cup of coffee as they pass thru. These kids will value GU more and we will value them more if they get that degree or in the case of an Otto of Jeff Green, excel and come back to get that degree.

My hunch is that Grayson Carter didn't have the opportunity to come back to Georgetown and ultimately earn his degree after what the coaching staff saw from him last season.

My hunch is that Grayson was told that he would have to improve substantially in order to earn any significant playing time this season, and decided his best opportunity was elsewhere.
