ESPN is reporting that Head Coach Louis Orr's contract might be being bought out by prominent alumni. I don't have a link on it because it was a teaser for Sports Center and isn't on ESPN.com yet. Would seem to be coming pretty late in the season to begin a full search for a head coach, not sure that its the best thing since he just seems to have finalized his staff and gotten recruits on campus. Looks like they will have problems competing in the BE next year if they are getting rid of their coach in July.

The NY Post had a story about it today. DFW had links on the hoyasaxa.com site to some of the turmoil at the Hall this off season--Jeff Fogelson the AD resigned; Louis Orr was resistant to replacing Brian Nash (the asst. that left to take the St. Francis (NY) job with anyone but George Jackson. It isn't an accident that the Hall put out a release on 7/1 that Jackson was promoted to Asst. Coach & John Morton from the '89 team had returned as Dir. of Basketball Operations, and the story the next day is that the alums hope to buy him out this week.
Orr's contract is up at the end of the 05/06 season, and there's no talk of giving him a new contract, so either they go through the season with a lame duck, and screw up their recruiting further, or they bite the bullet and try to move on. The rift on the radio in NYC today is that Louis is getting a raw deal after being brought in to clean up the Amaker mess, but it seems like there was a lot of turmoil down the stretch this year with Morris getting booted and Cerasoli transferring. It doesn't help that Rutgers went and got a big time recruiter in Fred Hill as an Asst. this Spring.

This would be a classless move if the Hall pulls it off...but not as bad as what happened in March of '04.

Arrrgh! Hoyalove...that's all I have to say.
On Orr, it is amazing how quickly the tide turned. Orr has two NCAA appearances and won a BE Coach of the Year Award, right? His recruiting has been worse than awful, and he's been plagued with disciplinary problems, but it seems the trigger is awful quick.
