The way I count it we have 5 guys next year over 6'10". Carter, Wahad, Yurt7, Wilson, and Igohoefe. At least one or more of those guys has to be redshirted right? Or is PE planning on having 2 or 3 "lines" ? Needless to say if any of those guys steps up next year it could turn our entire program around.

This is how I predict:
Yurt - starter, 30 mins Wahab - backup, 10 mins Tim - used when in foul trouble Wilson - red shirt Carter - will spend more time at the 4 imo. 5-10 mins backing up LeBlanc and whoever else gets time there

Hockey-like subs all game long with two bigs on the court at most times and Yurt getting lots of minutes.

Man, with all that size plus Josh, Carter and Pickett, we need to try some type of zone next year, with Mosely or Galen at PG. It would be longer than Syracuse’s. Just a different look to surprise the other team...

I seem to remember a tweet weeks ago indicating that Ighoefe or Wilson would likely redshirt. The other will still be something of a project.

Send them to the Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason school of defense/intimidation

I think we may also see some sets with two of these guys, particularly if Yurt shows a good touch from outside. When giving Josh a breather, would be interesting to see Yurt and Qudus out there at the same time (or some other combo)--could effectively shut down the paint for opposing offenses. Also agreed that Carter is more likely to see time at the 4 given his shooting touch. Maybe even an occasional look at the 3 if he shows he can defend the perimeter, particularly if we go with a zone.

Carter should not play the 5. He seems more like a 4 unless he bulks up a lot.
It seems that Yurt7 and Wahab will get most of the minutes. At this point, it would make the most sense if Ighoefe and/or Wilson redshirts.

Whoever said Carter was 6-10" I believe he was listed at 6-8"...he played big with an outside shot. I think he could play the pf position well.

I am looking forward to some big man depth. Anyone who just saw Maryland game could see the advantage created by the Fernando-Smith pairing.

Carter, among others, needs to hit the weight room big time...

I see three guys getting most of the minutes at the 4 and 5 spots. Yurt, Josh and Q. LeBlanc will get the vast majority of his minute at 4, and Q at 5, but Yurt might well get minutes at both spots.
That does not count possible contributions from Carter or Tim or Malcolm (Likely to redshirt). Of course, there could also be another recruit. If there is, he is likely to be a 2/3 or a 3/4
It will be very interesting to see how Coach puts the team together next year. Locks to start? James, Mac and Josh - add Omer. The last spot is TBD in my view. We shall see. I am looking forward to it and I am not taking off my blue/gray glasses once! I wonder if I can get Blue Gray Lasik?

Rivals has him as a 6'9" power forward. Either way, Hoyas will a huge size advantages next year. Let's just hope PE teaches these guys how to use it.

Perhaps we rebound and defend the rim.
Those would be novel...

Let's just hope that one of the FR or Carter is good enough to play meaningful minutes not only backing up Yurt but also playing with Yurt. I know Josh can play the 4 but he is undersized and we already have such a disadvantage with our diminutive backcourt. It would be nice to have Josh at the 3 with 2 other bigs. It's hard to see just putting Yurt into Jessie's minutes and Qudus into Trey's making a significant difference to the defense.

Any of you been at practice to see Yurt play? I hear he is better than Govan with his overall game, especially footwork and defense. If true, this would be very nice. I would start him at the five and rotate the two best others at the four with occasional four minutes for one of our smaller slashers.

As we all know, it's not often that we grant redshirts. It doesn't mean we won't but I won't be holding my breath. Having said that, Patrick hasn't been the HC all that long and so maybe that's something that will be different. Regardless, if the added depth means max effort on D and on the boards and some fouls to burn, I'm great with that. Between Yurt being eligible added to Akinjo, Mac, LeBlanc and Pickett, we have a solid offensive unit returning. Not to mention, I really like how Jagan looked the last handful of games. He seems to have found his niche and some more confidence as well. If Jahvon to make more of the role that we were looking for Malinowski to play, that would be gravy. I realize that's difficult with starting guards on the shorter side but Blair's handle looked much improved to me late this season and I think the can be more than a catch and shoot guy.
IMO, it's very likely that a focus of the offseason will be in the development of offensive sets for LeBlanc. Not only do we need that from him with Govan gone but he showed tremendous development in a very short time on that end. If he's not forced to be our primary rebounder and rim protector, I'm hoping that frees him up to do a bit more on the offensive end. Hopefully the new guys can help to do that for him.
