Did anyone else see this list? I'm dissapointed that Jeff Green or Brandon didn't at least get an invite. Especially Jeff in my mind. He's better than some of these guys on the list. Terrence Roberts? Are you kidding me? He's better than most of the forwards on the list. usabasketball.com/men/2005/05_mtrials_u21_roster.html2005 USA Basketball Men's U21 World Championship Team Trials Roster NAME POS HGT WGT DOB YOG SCHOOL/HOMETOWN Josh Boone F 6-10 237 11/21/84 2007 Connecticut / Mt. Great article from DeCourcey on how JamesOn Curry should finish his three year probation before being asked to represent his country. You can throw in Marcus Williams as well. Yet they leave off guys like Green and Bowman who would kill to represent their country. Who made these decisions? Do they read the paper? Williams and JamesOn should be in jail...not representing the USA. www.sportingnews.com/experts/mike-decourcy/20050628.html

I think Jimmy Boeheim had some influence over the invites, since he coached the team a couple of years back. Obviously there is no way that Terrance Roberts gets an invite over Jeff. Pretty ridiculous.

Hopefully, Jeff and Brandon will take this personally and go out of their way to make sure Gay, Boone, and Roberts look like chumps next year when those respective games come around. Plus it would be nice to smear it in Martelli's and anyone else's face who put together this ridiculous list.

I saw that too. Just something doesn't seem right about Williams. Plus, he's quiet and not a leader. Not the things you want out of a franchise player.
As much as you can say about Bogut (and I really don't think he's #1 material) at least I feel like you get a pretty strong competitor who just oozes basketball. The kid loves to play and compete at the highest level. I'd take that type of kid anyday over an atheletic freak who doesn't care.
You need to want it really badly to be a star. The talent level is too even at the highest level.
Chris Paul has it in my opinion. Bogut has it too. Williams too from Illinois.
Williams will be a bust...mark my words.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with JamesOn Curry representing his country. He has more than paid his debt to society. He forfeited an opportunity to attend the college of his choice, he’s ruined his name, embarrassed his family, and has had to endure verbal attacks in every arena he stepped into last season. And I have no doubt he’ll have to put up with it throughout his college career.
The lad got caught selling some ‘weed’…He was providing herbal refreshment to those who desperately needed it in the Alamance and Guilford county area…
A very bad decision indeed, but it’s not like the guy was convicted of a violent crime, or drunk driving, or that he was even the Kingpin…He was a kid that got caught up with the idea of getting some fast money…
But with his admission of guilt and the felony that is now on his record, he is now ‘square with the house’…
How many of us would have a problem if he were to be selected to represent his country in Iraq?

Excellent points Aggy. He's paid his debt, and he's allowed to move on with his young career. You're right, if he were to represent the U.S. in the armed forces we would be celebrating his turn around in life. I'm not implying that an amateur sport holds a candle to the honor of serving in the military, but it's an apt metaphor.

And to make it worse he now plays for Eddie Sutton at Official Second-chance University.

Cincy has to be second chance U, replacing UNLV/Fresno St. from back in the day.

OSU has a second chance coach - ran away from Kentucky after wrecking the program and himself with a drinking problem and has had a ton of second chance players who transfer under sketchy circumstances (the Grahms, Lucas, Gottlieb, Curry, etc.) - the only difference between Cincy and OSU is that Sutton demands that his players graduate and Cincy players can't spell "graduate".

I believe Brandon is 21, or at least he's been spotted in the Tombs after it turns into only a bar.

"second chance players who transfer under sketchy circumstances ...Lucas" It was a second chance for John Lucas because the program he was in at Baylor went south. Never heard anyone blame Lucas for anything (except maybe bad judgment in signing with Baylor to begin with). We were said to be recruiting him heavily when Baylor's players got released to sign elsewhere. BTW, he'll be a better NBA point guard as an undrafted free agent than most of the point guards drafted this year. Especially Felton.

No disagreement - I meant that the over all circumstances of his transfer were sketchy - i.e. his program melting down in a heap of NCAA violations and a murder investigation and all of those Fort Worth Star-Telegram articles - that's what was sketchy in his case not that he was in anyway implicated in those things. Has he been signed yet?

I blame Lucas for the 40k camera shots of his father during OSU games over the past 2 years.
Why on earth are there 21 players on the team?

I'm not sure, but can you even get into the military with a felony conviction on your record?
