The market doesn’t seem to agree. Let’s let Patrick do his job. Trevor Keels makes this kid look like a Morgan State recruit. POD do you still feel this way about Quincy? And what are you seeing that others aren't? Nationally Quincy is ranked higher. Don't they play against similar competition? Serious question..... Any recruiting guru can respond...lol

I haven't seen Maret play this winter, but they already have 3 losses according to the Post, none of which are to "good" teams. PVI on the other hand is ranked in the top 5 in the country and just beat IMG.

He looks the part, but that's why I said I would wait to pass judgment to see if his skills started to match his frame and athleticism.

They had one good addition to the team, but lost 3 in transfers that are starting and winning elsewhere. It is a bit of an odd program. Quincy played well this summer in live period with Maret, but they struggled then too. He plays really well with his travel team, which has good support around him. He is a good catch and shoot player or catch and one bounce and up, but also creates well for others on his travel team, Team Takeover. The level of play he plays with and against with Takeover is better than Maret and his play style is more comfortable with Takeover. With Maret he gets doubled as other than Rice they seem to be lacking solid play besides those two at the moment.

I mean he's just not a 5 star kid. If you're playing at a school like Maret against the comp they play, you should be dominating if you're a 5 star junior.
Keels stands out every game he plays and that's against the best competition in the country.

The big differnece is Keels plays an on ball position and Allen plays off ball, mostly, or at least how Maret uses him. He is used and plays much differently for Takeover. He gets many more touches and is put in position to play well with Takeover. Keels is really good, but a differnt type player. Also thinking Keels may be looking above Big East teams. I don't know that he would fit Ewing's model as he is a bit ball dominant, but if he fits Hoyas sure could use him!

#48 is far too high for him. He's been hurt a little this year, it looks like, but he hasn't taken the jump to justify himself as a high level prospect this season.

Evans forgot to include “money” between “offered” and “by L$U” 😎

Evans forgot to include “money” between “offered” and “by L$U” 😎 You couldn't pay me to recruit this kid over another top 50 kid. Seriously, look at his numbers from this past year. And his comp was not particularly strong. Benny Williams plays in the same league and took a big leap this year from "athletic, big kid" to "basketball player". Allen did not.

Yeah something happened this past season or the book is out on Quincy. Went from Top 10 as a sophomore to Top 50 as a junior. That's not a good trend...

I have no insights into this kid, and I am not sure I have ever even seen a highlight film of him, but he must have some skills and be a decent player or he wouldn't be rated as a top 50 player. Is he just a kid that everyone projects as a really good player because of his height/length/athleticism? I have no idea if the staff is recruiting him hard or not, but it does sound like some other big schools are involved so there much be something there.

Problem of Dog has a history of bashing DMV prospects, and bashing fellow posters who tend to think these prospects are worthy of Georgetown's attention. His commentary on Kris Jenkins, for instance:
"Doesn't have a position. Too small to be a 4, too slow to guard 3s."
"You must be a Gonzaga guy. Sorry but he's a no go. Undersized guys who shoot it well for their position are a dime a dozen. Not quick enough to play the 3 in the Big East."
Has been doing this for years now, and is consistently wrong.
Getting a kid like Quincy Allen who is an unfinished product (hence, we may not get in a recruiting war with UNC), is incredibly talented, and is local is exactly what we need to be doing. Hate to point this out about a particular poster who is a fellow fan, but seeing POD continually bashing local prospects like he is the exclusive DMV expert is incredibly frustrating.

Similar rankings thing happened to Tyler Beard, but he was in Chicago rather than the DMV, so nobody on this board noticed. Now we're all thrilled that he's going to be a Hoya next year.

Kris Jenkins was a decent college player. Would he have made a huge difference at Georgetown? No. Was he a 4? No. Was he too slow to guard 3s? Yes. Was he undersized and did he shoot it well? Yes. He couldn't even get a whiff of the G-League. I see more DMV kids play, both in the area and at Nike/USA Basketball events, than you ever will. How many times have you seen Quincy Allen play? "Incredibly talented"? The kid hasn't even been the best player on his team since he's been in high school, and it's not a basketball powerhouse. Look at what I've said about Trevor Keels (who is actually talented), or even Benny Williams, in this exact thread.
