Thread to propose and discuss 2019 recruits that are currently off the radar (i.e. guys we aren’t likely already recruiting). There are hidden gems out there every year that are waiting to be discovered, just need to find them.

I’ll start...
Ben Roderick, 6’5” wing out of Ohio. Injured last year (acl) and didn’t play AAU.

Another one: Jordan Wright, 6’6” guard/wing out of Louisiana. Probably known by Leblanc and Kirby, kind of a point forward type.

Darius Maddox, 6-5 W, 2019, St. John’s HS. (WCAC). Team Durant 16u. Congratulations to Darius for being awarded HM CHSL@DeMatha All League. He is a tremendous D1 high major recruit & young man who is now ranked @ #50

The son of UConn assistant coach Kenya Hunter, one would expect that a lot of programs would be on top of his recruitment by the very nature of his dad's job. That is why the case for Jaylin Hunter is a head scratcher. He came New England this summer when his father left a job at Nebraska for a position in Storrs. He was receiving a variety of looks from the local Midwest programs prior to the move but things had fallen off some. Headed into Saturday, Hartford and Old Dominion were those showing some interest. While no others have entered the picture just yet, kudos to ODU for being the first to offer. Tracking as one of the best lead guards available this winter, he exploded for 31 points on Saturday making a bunch of threes, leading his team and showing ability on the defensive end. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/hoophall-classic-senior-stock-boosters

This is not what the program needs.

This is not what the program needs. The 6'6" point forward out of La sounds intriguing...🤔

This is not what the program needs. The 6'6" point forward out of La sounds intriguing...🤔 This write up came from a Rivals report this summer... We watched Wright versus the New York Rens Thursday night. He knocked down a three and also scored on a drive to the bucket which resulted in a goaltend.
Honestly, he does not resemble a Big Ten type of player to me. He is heavy at the wing spot, and is not athletic enough. He would struggle against players in this league. He plays hard and is an intelligent player, but the athletic deficiencies are noticeable.

I pressed him if he’d take him at UConn, he said not right now due to a scholarship crunch but if he had a lot of open slots he’d think about it...

Thanks. The original post said 2019 - so that was mistaken? Yes, he is a Junior at St Johns College High School Yeah I don't think he qualifies as an under the rock kid. # 1 player in DC for 2020 and already holding a good number of offers including VT, Kansas State, Seton Hall, OK state and others.

Can we rename this “2019 SRD Candidates”? Who will be the doooood??? Let’s hope the SRD, if there is one, is actually someone like this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ja_Morant

A splendid example. That SRD also qualifies for the all-name squad as well. To be fair, Tim-Iggy could easily be our doooood for 2019. He has all the dooood qualities, except that he wasn’t a late signing.
