Not too surprised, other conferences are already doing it.

I think this is a good thing. Mixing in a couple early conference games in late November/early December livens up the early season schedule and takes a little pressure off OOC SOS.

It's an unnecessary move. Each BIG EAST team has 2-3 open spots in the schedule during conference play. Could just slot the extra games within that matrix. I hate for the most important games to be played so early in the season before the team's even have a feel for their strengths & weaknesses...

Sure, but both teams are playing earlier, so there is no real advantage to be gained or lost over the course of time. And those open slots in January/February can be extremely valuable to some teams when scheduling national caliber games, sometimes crossing over to CBS or ESPN. Our past Duke series was a good example. The Duke/SJU game now. A Big 5 game for Nova. Looking forward, I'd totally support adding the 2 extra games earlier, and using an open January date to play Syracuse on CBS when the country is starting to pick up interest in college hoops.

Agree to an extent but in any particular year this could really place one team at a disadvantage. For instance last year and this year the Hoyas are introducing a lot of newcomers to the team. Early in the season they will be nowhere near as cohesive as a more experienced and senior/junior laden team.

It is either November/December games or no more byes or non-conference games after Jan. 1. I prefer Nov/Dec BE games.

And I really liked Ranch's idea of moving the Syracuse series to January, if possible. Interest in college basketball is definitely higher in the winter, and it'd probably get better viewership, especially in years when both teams are pretty good. Like it or not, this is the way the conference scheduling is moving. For us, it's good because more Big East games generally is a good thing for our schedule. It does mean there are less non-conference games, and thus, who we schedule non-conference is even more important than it was.

Syracuse - which lost 4 of its 5 starters - plays its SEASON OPENER against UVA on Nov. 6. Hopefully the BE will never schedule that early.

I realize that this is an unpopular opinion and the presence of off-campus facilities would make this very difficult but I would like to see one or two weekends a year where the Big East does a back to back series with Fri and Sun. games along the lines of the Pac-12.
Examples:
Friday: DePaul at Butler Xavier at Marquette St. John's at Seton Hall Providence at UConn Villanova at Georgetown Creighton, open
Sunday: Xavier at Butler DePaul at Marquette Providence at Seton Hall St. John's at UConn Creighton at Georgetown Villanova, open

A lot of alums would travel in for a weekend like that so they could catch two games.

For me, a one game trip is enough. It’s about quality, not quantity. I will be coming down for the Cuse game this season. Too much to do in DC besides spending your time indoors at the arena, like visiting campus.

I think Thursday/ Saturday would be a better look if we went this direction.

I think Thursday/ Saturday would be a better look if we went this direction. Agreed. It gives you time to re visit DC, enjoy the ambiance and restaurants as well as all else it affords. We do it for Thursday/Sunday WSOC games at least once a year and do the whole DC area between games.

Got the email below yesterday re: single game tickets. I'm trying to pick some up for a few games this year and wondering if this is the best approach for good seats at a decent price. Anyone have any knowledge?
Cheers

If you're just looking to be in the lower bowl or if you're looking to go to a game that has less demand, you can probably wait until general ticket sales begin in a couple of weeks. I know ticket demand will be higher this year, and they will be closing the 400 section for many of the games season, but it's a large stadium and I doubt any games will be completely sold out.

Lower Bowl donor prices for the Syracuse game are, shall we say, dear. I’m not surprised as dynamic pricing has been in effect for non-season ticket games for a while.
