Just curious to see how many folks think the new CBA is going to significantly increase the number of one and done players in the NCAA?
I personally think it will create more two & three year players since many of these guys will get to college and realize they could use at least two years to develop their games against better competition before going to the league and pulling a Darko and riding pine for a couple of years.

I don't think this will change anything. The very best players will just go to prep school for a year where they can hang out until they become eligible.
20 would have made a more tangible difference as more players would go to school for 2 years. 19 was a compromise, but really was pretty worthless.
If Stern thinks he's keeping the scouts and GMs out of the high school gyms then he's just kidding himself. Agents will now tell kids to go to prep school or spend the whole year preparing for the draft at IMG academy or some similar place.
The one great thing abou the new CBA is the limiting of rookie deals to only two years guaranteed and the last two team options. This give a lot more flexibility to the team and forces the kids to be more prepared when coming into the pros.
Should be interesting...

Get ready for the NIKE, Reebok, adidas, etc. Prep Camp where the kids will be placed with an agent, signed to a shoe contract, placed in a camp / school atmosphere to prepare for the draft all in one package deal. Kid still gets $$$ straight out of HS. All this is going to do is make the shoe company affiliated AAU scoundrels even more powerful.

There will be folks who do the prep school route, but I bet many of them head to college anyway. Duke or Prep? You don't have to do schoolwork at either...
And the Ndudi Ebis will still jump -- just most likely to the NDBL.

I think you'll be surprised at how few players will do to the NBDL as a one year farm system.
a) they'll be exposed against a whole bunch of players looking to get their points etc. They're better off waiting a year playing against inferior competition. b) None of them want to take the 12 hour bus ride from one state to the next. Are you kidding? This is huge.

Easy on poor Coach K...he's not going to have Shav to kick around and blame for lack of depth "I don't just look at myself as a basketball coach....I look at myself as an exploiter of children for my own bank account"

Mark Cuban was interviewd on ESPN radio yesterady and said that the agreement had been made between both parties but the official language of the agreement had yet to be completely written. Cuban said he would suggest to Stern and the owners to put in a clause saying that if a kid goes the prep route he will still have to wait an entire year before entering the draft. Cuban understands its a loophole that needs to be addressed. Lets wait and see.

This will be pretty interesting to see when it gets papered. I wonder what loopholes get filled when they realize all the issues that have sprung up.
I like the idea of not counting prep school. That would be great.

I am glad that the prep loop hole might get closed but that doesn't mean these players won't find other avenues that don't involve educationally challending themselves - Europe, NBDL, USBL, JuCo

There might be a trickle of guys who bide their time in D-1 for a year (John Calipari must be licking his chops), but overall I don't think the impact will be that significant at four-year schools.
