If he comes it could help as people won't know the difference between him and Pickett. Hell they could switch jerseys mid-game if foul trouble hits and no one would know the difference.

Sounds good. They would be two classes apart.

this would definitely be a fit in multiple areas of what coach Ew is trying to do.

Been told that the SDSU folks feel real good about this kid and his potential.

I'm really high on his upside... From his highlights Johnson is a talented player with a lot of potential, but he never seemed really interested in coming to the East Coast. I think the only two visits he took were two California schools. Hope he has a good career.

Good for him and them, too bad for us. Coach just has to keep grinding. He's reeled in some serious talent so far. I think he will get more.

When Johnson was in high school, few paid attention to the 6-4, skinny kid from Oakland. When he sprouted three more inches, he rose from a no-star recruit to three stars. Soon, offers from Georgetown, Cincinnati, Washington State, Nevada and Fresno State and others flooded in. The Aztecs, though, offered something less quantifiable and special. “There’s a process here at San Diego State,” Johnson said. “Me being here, I feel like I’m learning more than I would learn at any other school. From the outside looking in, people might not understand that.” That’s why, in a transfer portal-crazy world, Johnson chose patience — as opposed to panic. “People might wonder, what’s he doing there? Does he still want to stay there?” he explained. “I’ve gained the most knowledge ever (at SDSU). Everything is moving more slowly for me. “I wasn’t wired that way (to walk away). I didn’t grow up like that. My parents never told me to quit when things get hard. You stick through it. I know that hard works pays off sooner or later. I knew my time would come.” Dutcher provided the mental and emotional anchor. “People don’t really understand how important he is, as a human being,” Johnson said. “He does his job perfectly, almost. Any time anybody has any doubts, he lifts everybody up. He has so many years of experience. I’m not the first person he’s seen go through ups and downs. He’s probably seen thousands. “He reassured me that this isn’t the end and to stick to it.” So, he’ll keep shooting. He’ll keep dunking. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/sports-columnists/story/2021-11-01/keshad-johnson-san-diego-state-aztecs-basketball-brian-dutcher-trey-pulliam

I assume it will be used for some sort of bizarre shot at our staff, but who knows, and who cares?

2 things.
1) Reminds me of what we have said about Jamorko staying through considerable ups and does at Georgetown. Some kids are raised to persevere if things get tough and some are wired to persevere. Others are prone to always be looking for greener pastures, the moment some adversity comes, or, even worse, are raised or advised to have a sense of entitlement.
2) Since we play SDSU this month, how about a scouting report. Is this kid, now a junior, an important contributor,or still awaiting his chance, and how does the whole team , including him, operate?

SDSU (unlike the Hoyas) does report on their scrimmages and the word is that in a 40 minute game-type scrimmage against the No. 2 ranked (preseason)UCLA Bruins at Pauly last week, the Aztecs hung with them for the most part. Reports are there were several lead changes and SDSU did particularly well on the offensive side of the ball. THis is good news for those of us who are Aztec fans as defense has never been the problem in recent years. Again with the usual disclaimer about the value of making judgments from scrimmages, I am fairly comfortable that the Aztecs will be around the fringes of the Top 25 most of the year.
